by the authorities it is more likely he would be removed back to Peru. To avoid

the film, Paddington's

Paddington
We often see other people differently to how they see themselves. Some of what we see may be the same, but we also make judgements about people (sometimes without even knowing). These judgements can be useful – to keep us safe for example, but they can sometimes be unfair, hurtful, or even harmful to others.
Stigma because of how people look (race, weight, body markings, disability), Stigma because of how people act (mental illness, speech disorder, addictions), Stigma because of people’s origins or beliefs (ethnicity, nationality, language, religion).
Effects: people discriminating against (treating differently) certain individuals/groups, hurting people’s emotional wellbeing (their confidence, happiness, peace of mind etc), Damage a sense of community and shared humanity (that we are all humans no matter our differences), Develop into more serious tensions.
Migrants are often viewed with scepticism in the UK. Often there is the notion that they are poor, uneducated, threatening and culturally incompatible.
Given this current climate of hostility, can we learn something about how we perceive migrants from taking a closer look at the adventures of Paddington Bear, one of the country’s best-loved children’s characters.
