1. Unit Plan:
Abnormal Psychology
Abstract: Abnormal Psychology encompasses a variety of topics from history, to disorders,
treatments, and on and on. The interesting thing about Abnormal Psychology is that a lot of it is about
moods, anxieties, feelings, and thoughts that we all have sometimes. It the actual disorders, it’s just
taking those normal behaviors and feeling and making them extreme. We will go from history, to mood
disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, and finish off with a movie “Sybil”.
MondayAudience:This is a High School senior class of 22 students. There are 12 boys and 10 girls. Of those
students, 13 are white, 7 are black, and 2 are Hispanic.
State the Objective:Today, the students will complete a WebQuest learning about the history of
abnormal psych to start the day. They will break up into groups of 3 or 4, log into the computers
available (in the classroom or designated computer lab), follow the WebQuest directions from there.
After completed the groups will individually discuss one or two things that stood out to them, something
they may have learned that they didn’t know before, or something they found particularly interesting.
Turning the attention to the class as a whole, each group will tell myself and the class what they chose
to discuss. The students will have the entire class period to complete the webquest, discuss in groups,
report back to the class, and have time for questions or comments. They will complete this with 100%
accuracy.

Require Learner Participation:Students will break off into the assigned groups of 3 or 4. They will go
to a computer where they will follow the links. As a group, students will work together to come up with
one thing that they learned while going through the WebQuest: something they liked, learned, or found
interesting. After everyone is finished, we will come together as a class and each group (having one or
two people being the main speaker would be easier) will tell the class what they found interesting and
why. We can share ideas and discuss the history of Psychology.
2. Evaluate and Revise:
This will be graded entirely on participation. If each individual group comes up with something they all
learned and shares with the class, they have completed what I wanted you to.
10/10- Shared the topic, why you picked it, and what you thought was interesting.
5/10- Simply state a topic without explaining why is was chosen.
0/10- No topic was chosen or shared.
TuesdayAudience: This is a High School senior class of 22 students. There are 12 boys and 10 girls. Of those

State the Objective:After discussing the mood disorders through a PowerPoint presentation and
showing a tutorial of how to create a Tumblr, the students will have an understanding of the individual
disorders. Next each student will create a Tumblr account and demonstrate a mock page that would
show what a person who had their chosen disorder (i.e. Bipolar I) would perhaps have on their Tumblr
page. You need to decorate your page and blog or re-blog certain images or quotes that fit your person.
The students will add me(gabecapri.tumblr.com) so I can go on and see their page. The students will
work on this during class and finish at home if extra time is needed. They will complete this with 100%
accuracy.

Require Learner Participation: Students will follow along with the PowerPoint’s. Then by using their
own critical thinking, they will think of a mood disorder they’d like to use and create a Tumblr
demonstrating someone who has that disorder’s thoughts, what they’d blog and re-blog, etc. After
adding me on Tumblr so that I can see the work done, the assignment will be complete.
Evaluate and Revise: Once everyone has added my Tumblr page, I can go on and see what work
everyone has done and make sure that each student has grasped whichever mood disorder they
decided to use. As the long as the Tumblr is made, correlates with their chosen disorder, and I can see it
that is how I will evaluate what has been learned.
WednesdayAudience: This is a High School senior class of 22 students. There are 12 boys and 10 girls. Of those
students, 13 are white, 7 are black, and 2 are Hispanic.
3. State the Objective:The students will follow along on the PowerPoint presentation. They will then
break off into six groups where each will have one of the anxiety disorders. I will show them an example
of a video so they have something to go off of. Each group with plot their video in which they will reenact what their given anxiety disorder would be like. They will then shoot the (2 minutes give or take)
video and upload it to the class YouTube account, where I can then see them. This will be a one day
activity, and they will complete with 100% accuracy.

example) on wiki, phone or camera to shoot the video
Require Learner Participation: Students will follow along on the PowerPoint. They will then break off
into six groups where each will have one of the anxiety disorders. Each group with plot their video in
which they will re-enact what each anxiety disorder would be like. They will then shoot the (2 minutes
give or take) video and upload it to the class YouTube account.
Evaluate and Revise: Once all the videos are uploaded I can go on and see their participation and what
they learned through their videos.
ThursdayAudience: This is a High School senior class of 22 students. There are 12 boys and 10 girls. Of those
students, 13 are white, 7 are black, and 2 are Hispanic.
State the Objective:Today, the student will follow along on the PowerPoint about personality disorders.
After that is completed, the students will go to individual computers and create a blog on blogspot.com
to create a post about which personality disorder they think would be the worst to have. After writing a
blog that is a minimum of three paragraphs (intro, disorder, why you think it’d be worst) we will add
each other as a class, and each student will comment on at least three of their classmates’ blogs about
one thing they agreed with and their opinion. This is a one day activity, finished at home if necessary,
and done with 100% accuracy.

with the information they’ll need to create their blogs. They will create their blogs, write their post on
their personal opinion, add the class members and myself, and they will comment on three of their
classmates’ blogs.
Evaluate and Revise: I will evaluate the students based on their participation and effort put into their
blogs and comments on their classmates’ work.
4. FridayAudience: This is a High School senior class of 22 students. There are 12 boys and 10 girls. Of those
students, 13 are white, 7 are black, and 2 are Hispanic.
State the Objective:The students will be able to write a review on the movie “Sybil” after it is watched
in class. This movie is about a woman with Dissociative Identity Disorder (Multiple Personality). In the
review they will summarize the movie, their opinion on it, and whether or not they think it was a true
depiction of the disorder. This paper should be five paragraphs with an introduction and conclusion. This
can be worked on in class and taken home if more time is needed. This will be completed with 100%
accuracy.

Utilize Media and Materials:watching the movie “Sybil” which is a movie to further expand on
personality disorder, using pencil and paper to write the review, or Word.
Require Learner Participation: The students will watch the movie as a class. Then they will individually
write their paper on the movie.
Evaluate and Revise:The evaluation will come from participation in watching the film, and another part
will be from the paper and if they completed the assignment by making it 5 paragraphs with an
introduction, conclusion, and body paragraphs with a summary, their opinion on the movie, and
whether or not they think it was a true depiction of DID.
