Summer School—There is no formalized summer school for the 2012-2013 school year.
There are a few exceptions and a flyer is attached with more information.
Summer Reading—8th Grade Students—Attached please find the Summer Reading Forms for
the high school and middle school.
Volleyball Camp—Anyone interested in attending a summer volleyball camp should check out the
attached flyer. Registration forms and fees are due by June 7. Camps run the week of July 15-18.
Track and Field Camp—The Lindbergh Track Program is once again hosting it’s annual Youth Track &
Field Camp. The camp is three days long totally10 hours and is a great opportunity for middle school
boys and girls. See the attached flyers.
Summer School Opportunity—While Sperreng is not offering summer school, we have just learned of free online
classes through Grandview R-II School District in Missouri for all interested students this summer. Two sessions are be-
ing held—June 3 through June 30 and July 1 through July 31. For more information, see the attachments entitled
“Grandview”.
Student of the Year—Congratulations to Ava Raymond who was chosen as the 2013 Middle School Stu-
dent of the Year for Sperreng Middle School. Ava will be recognized on June 18 at the Crestwood/Sunset
Hills Chamber of Commerce luncheon. Way to go, Ava!!
Tennis Camp—If you're interested in learning how to play tennis, come to Tennis Camp, offered by the LHS
tennis team, June 24-27. Information can be found on the Lindbergh Athletics website (http://
go.lindberghschools.ws/Page/8591). Contact Coach Nussbaum at Truman with questions.
Calculator Recommendation—ALL high school math students will need a graphing calculator. As you
shop this summer and take advantage of sales, please make reference to the calculator recommendation
attachment.

2. Bowling Tournament—Register now for the Lauren E. Cooper Bowling Tournament of Champi-
ons to be held on Saturday, June 29 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Crestwood Bowl. This fundraiser is
being organized to raise money to continue funding the scholarship set up in Lauren’s name. Lauren
was a Lindbergh graduate who unexpectedly passed away last June. The goal of the tournament is to
raise enough money to fund the Lauren Cooper Memorial Scholarship for years to come and to keep
her memory alive. Please see the attachment for details.
Perfect Attendance—Congratulations to the following students who were recognized at the 8th
Grade Recognition Ceremony for having perfect attendance: Brooklyn Banning, Mitchell Burkett,
Keegan Holtgrieve, Edvin Krdzalic, Maya Makarun, Khanh Nguyen, Emily Schraut. Thank you
to all these students for being here at Sperreng Middle School every single day!!
Presidential Service Gold Level Award—Congratulations to the following students who received the
Presidential Service Gold Level Award: Amanda Aiken, Ava Raymond, Emily Schraut. The Presiden-
tial Gold Service Award is an award that was established by President George W. Bush in 2003 to rec-
ognize the important contributions Americans of all ages are making within their communities through
service and civic engagement. The Gold Level Award is awarded for 100 hours for kids, 250 hours for
young adults, 500 hours or more for adults, 1000 hours or more for families and groups. Way to go
Sperreng students!
Virtual Backpack—The Virtual Backpack can be accessed on the Sperreng website by going to the For Parents tab and
scrolling down to the Virtual Backpack link at the bottom of the drop down menu. When it opens, you can see the links to
everything that has been posted. By clicking on the link you will be able to download and print the item of interest. If you
