The document summarizes Alberta's carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects and outreach efforts. It outlines Alberta's goal of reducing emissions by 200 megatons by 2050 through CCS and other measures. It describes 4 large-scale CCS projects in Alberta that will collectively capture 5 megatons of emissions annually starting in 2015. 10. Regulatory Framework Assessment (RFA) -
Objectives
• To develop a world-class regulatory framework
for CCS that meets the needs of large scale CCS
projects:

CCS frameworks in other jurisdictions.
– Develop recommendations to refine and guide
legislation, regulations and regulatory processes.
• Ensure that the regulatory process is efficient,
transparent and comprehensive.
11. Regulatory Framework Assessment - Scope
• The RFA is looking at a number of issues relating to CCS
in Alberta, including:
o Closure criteria.

Stewardship Fund.
o Clear roles and responsibilities for Alberta
regulators.
o How stakeholder engagement will take place.
