You would receive a thousand dollars for your first year of college, a thousand dollars the second year, and then two thousand dollars the third year you attended.
I don’t know about everyone else, but my family can not afford to pay for my college on their own. This money was so important to me and my family, and I know it was important to everyone else depending on it.
The link will take you to the actual act where you can read about all of the specifics when it comes to things such as eligibility and money distribution. There is a lot of information on there that is now useless since Michigan decided to break their promise.
Now I cant say this on the record because it is subject to opinion, but I will put it out there that it is rumored that the senate and house of representatives wanted the money from the scholarship funds to go back into their paychecks.
There are so many students I know that had to drop out of the college they were going to or transfer to a community college because they were short what they promised. This can make such an impact on a persons entire life. Hopefully some good can come out of this though and we can stop focusing on teaching for the test.
But at the same time schools will still get money for passing grades on the test, however it’s the motivation in the students that will severely be lacking. School funding does not directly effect the students ( or at least they don’t realize it at the time ) however money going directly to them? They understand that.
We had the UC lined with phones at the beginning of the semester all ready to dial up the senate to say GIVE ME MY MONEY.
Michigan promised me as well as countless other students the opportunity to lighten the burden that is college tuition. They have broken their promise.
