Compared to other resources, biomass offers a particular variety and
flexibility of use what makes it so attractive for many purposes.

Non-food applications of BI - mass include:
Energy: fuels, electricity, heat
Fibres: paper, board, additives…
Materials: textiles, plastic, insulation, construction…
Chemicals: solvents, polymers, dyes, cosmetics, medicines
To ensure the best possible benefits from biomass use, next to all bioE
options, other biomass options should be evaluated as well and this in
the light of decoupling economic growth from resource use. 9

Biomass functions as a sort of natural battery for storing solar energy. As
long as biomass is produced sustainably - with only as much used as is
