 Started with Russia sending the Sputnik to space

3.  By sending many spaceships to space… First sent a dog
to space then had to figure out how to make the rocket
come back to Earth.
 Sending people to the moon…. They wanted to see
which power would be first to land on the moon.

4.  The United States had different civilian and military
agencies, and the military space programs were secret.
The run to the Moon, were widely available for the
world to see.
 In the Soviet Union, all space programs were put into a
secret military-industrial bureaucracy. Only successful
missions were publicized.
