CompTIA A+ certification is an international industry credential that validates the foundational knowledge of
IT technicians. Many businesses and government and academic institutions recognize CompTIA A+ as the
standard for foundation-level IT knowledge and skills. More than 600,000 individuals in more than 190
countries have achieved CompTIA A+ certification. CompTIA A+ covers topics such as installing, configuring,
diagnosing and preventive maintenance of hardware and software components, as well as networks and soft

CompTIA Network+ certification is an international industry credential that validates the knowledge
of networking professionals with at least nine months of experience in network support or administration
or adequate academic training. The exam tests technical ability in the areas of media and topologies,
protocols and standards, network implementation and network support. Top technology companies
including Microsoft, Novell and Hewlett-Packard recognize CompTIA Network+ as part of their certification
tracks. Many other corporations recommend or require CompTIA Network+ certification for their IT

CompTIA Security+ validates mastery of security knowledge of an individual with two years on-the-job
networking experience, with emphasis on security. The exam covers industry-wide topics, including
communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, access control, authentication, external
attack, and operational and organization security. The objectives of CompTIA Security+ were derived through
input from industry, government and academia, a job task analysis, a survey of more than 1,100 subject
matter experts and a beta exam with responses from subject matter experts around the world. The industry
