3. Another convention audiences usually expect to see within music videos in the use of lip sync. We have chosen to include this within our own video, as it allows the viewer to connect more with the characters and their emotions and also easily follow the lyrics. Chloe & Gemma

5. After product research of analysing a variety of other music videos we kept to the convention of using different locations which makes the video more interesting. Also, we used establishing shots to highlight our choices of destinations further. Chloe & Gemma
6. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? Ancillary texts At the beginning of the project we decided to research into similar main products, evaluating different types of album covers enabling us to have ideas and create our own. This is our final front cover design for our project, we have chosen to place bright colours relating to our genres which stand out against the black background. Our chosen album title is ‘Irresponsible’, we chose to use one word for the title as it is memorable and relatable to teenagers. The title of our band is ‘Juventude’; meaning youth in Portuguese. We have used the same house style for this title throughout the project of large bold white text. We found the styles for these fonts on www.dafont.com Chloe & Gemma
7. Juventude Background Cover As you can see on our background cover we have used the same logo for the bands name which shows consistency and a specific housestyle within our theme. This informs the buyer of what songs are featured on the album, but is plain and simple as the front cover is more colourful so we didn’t want to attract the attention away from it. This small print also gives the CD cover more authenticity as well as showing us that it is like a regular CD cover as it states it is copyright protected. This barcode makes our CD cover look more authentic and realistic. Chloe & Gemma
8. We also researched into posters advertising the release of singles and albums to help us produce our own. Again, we have kept to the house style by using the same background and font for the audience will be able to associate it with the album and band. Only a simple amount of information has been given to the viewers here, however it directly and dramatically informs them of the release date. As well as this, the size and outline of the date is bold and noticeable. During our filming we took many photo’s to use in our print work. This image shows the singer of the band, who is also the main character in the video. Here we decided to promote the brand new single. The blue lining emphasizes the text, allowing it to be more eye catching. This picture shows our indie-pop genre through the costume, for example, grey skinny jeans and styled hair. Chloe & Gemma
9. What have you learnt from your audience feedback? We asked five people from our target audience of the genre ‘Indie-Pop’ for feedback on our music video and print work we produced. Here is what feedback they gave us: “I liked how lip synchronisation was used throughout the video, which helped to make it more realistic. Also the video gives a happy vibe and looked exciting to film.” “The use of bright colours in the music video kept me interested, and I also felt it was easy to relate to the storyline.” “Although the storyline was playful, I found it hard to keep up with the storyline due to the number of female characters which confused me as to which played the main part in the story line.” “The music video is very playful and enjoyable to watch, however the lip synchronisation is not perfect but still very entertaining to watch.” “I liked the video but it lacked effects and different camera shots which are probably conventional of a typical music video.” This feedback was useful as it pointed out our main criticisms which we need to improve on. However the positive feedback we received reassures that we achieved the right image we wanted to portray by using bright colours and playful camera shots. Chloe & Gemma
11. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? Throughout the course of the project we used several types of media technologies during construction and research, for example; the use of photo shop to edit pictures. The Blog Blogger.com has allowed us to create our own blog for Max Records, this has enabled us to keep up to date with our research and present our work. This enabled us to use technological convergence rather than using paper to research and plan. Therefore we were able to use the slideshow website to upload our storyboard and view it in motion. We were also able to upload a video from YouTube. Also, each member of the group could easily access the blog without work getting lost. Which ensured each member of the group added work to the project. Chloe & Gemma
12. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? Digital Cameras We used digital cameras when location scouting, looking for the perfect location for different scenes within our music video. Our cameras helped us to plan this as we were able to take photographs of locations then at a different time look back at the photos without having to revisit the location again to see if we still liked the location. As well as this, taking photographs allowed us to see visually what the images would look like if the audience were to see them. This meant that we were able to prepare in advance for how we wanted to plan things. PowerPoint We used PowerPoint within research and planning to create our storyboard which we uploaded onto the blog. The storyboard helped us to visualise our music video, and help us to see what would work and what would need improvements. At the beginning of the project we also researched into other music videos which helped us to understand general conventions. We put this onto PowerPoint so that it was easy to view and every member of the group could add their own research onto the overall PowerPoint. Chloe & Gemma
