CIO's have an exceptionally multi-dimensional role comprised of
deploying new technology for employees, designing unique
solutions to customer demands, structuring successful project
teams, meanwhile aligning the IT department's strategy with
the goals of the organization. Delivering more with less is the
ultimate goal, but are you willing to take a big risk and bet your
job on new technology?

A Unique Event
A successful IT department requires a great deal of project management. The demand for technology
in day-to-day functions is accelerating, and project requests to improve business processes are pouring
in. It is up to the CIO to carefully manage these requests, decide which are high priority, and then
determine if the task can and should be outsourced. In addition, the CIO must work with the CEO
and CFO to stay within the confines of the IT budget or modify it if necessary. Creating an agile
organization can significantly improve your effectiveness.
Challenges with the amount of data that must to be stored cannot be taken lightly.
Many CIOs are revising their data storage methods and putting systems in place to comply with
eDiscovery regulations. Virtualization has been a popular solution and has so far proven somewhat
complicated but with pleasing results. Another area of concern is security; everything from cyber
security, data security, employee security, and protection from hackers and viruses is reason to spend
significant portions of the budget to reduce risk. In the end, every newly implemented technology
must align with the business goals.
The CIO Summit will help CIOs find solutions through session presentations, panel discussions, case
studies and one-on-one meetings with onsite solution providers. CIOs will walk away with tools and
strategies that will allow them to dramatically improve the IT Department by addressing these
pertinent challenges.
Key Topic Areas
The primary objective of the CIO Summit is to explore the key aspects and issues related to IT best
practices and their application as business drivers for innovation and growth. The summit's program
topics have been pinpointed and validated by the IT community as the top critical issues they face. Key
issues for 2008 include:
• Aligning IT Initiatives to the Business Strategy
• Security & Risk Management
• Innovation
• Compliance
• Virtualization
• Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
• Mergers & Acquisitions
• Outsourcing
• Globalization – Challenges of Integration
