Perennial problem-infinite opportunity <ul><li>No alternative to coal based thermal power plants for meeting bulk load. </li></ul><ul><li>No alternative but to use Indian Coal with all its limitation of high ash content, coal mined with shale and stones. </li></ul><ul><li>Washing too expensive and users bitter to pay for coal loaded with shale and stones. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Miracle solution <ul><li>Technology to treat coal- reduce ash content without adding moisture and remove stones. </li></ul><ul><li>coal dry beneficiation technology of M/s. Ardee Business Services Pvt. Ltd., Visakhapatnam </li></ul><ul><li>system at pilot demo processed over one lakh tonnes of coal, detected and removed stones & shale and in the process improved the Useful Heat Value (UHV) of coal by about 750 Kcal / kg and reduced the ash content by 5 to 8%. </li></ul>

  5. 5. Everyone talks but no one pays for technology <ul><li>No incentive to mining firms to invest in the technology as they are paid by grades. There are few grades under UHV system followed in India. Alternative of Gross Calorific Value (GCV) based grading system with 20 grades and bandwidth of 200 Kcal/kg on GCV scale is under discussion for ages. </li></ul><ul><li>Power plan customers feel it is their right to get clean coal and cleaning coal of stones is not their business. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Innovation business delivery model <ul><li>Convert technology into a solution. </li></ul><ul><li>A green field conversion plant set up- take coal –clean it-resell it. Value addition about Rs 50 per ton. </li></ul><ul><li>Experiment extended- ISB organising business plan competition for TePP supported innovations-Metamorphis. </li></ul>
