4. TwinFrame TM In association with Gale & Snowden Architects, Solo have developed a range of true carbon zero ecological kit houses. Note that our claim of carbon zero is NOT arrived at by offsetting . The Kit House consists of a simple super-insulated Timber Frame structure known as TwinFrame. TwinFrame can be further enhanced with a variety of features and add on components to suit all budgets. The key features include: Modular TwinFrame Timber Frame unit Moisture permeable construction Super-insulation made of recycled cellulose Airtight construction to prevent heat loss through the fabric of the building High performance British manufactured triple glazed super low-E timber windows and doors The materials used are sustainable, non-toxic and low in embodied energy The design can easily be extended at a later date, having several pre-designed extensions to cater for future needs e.g. growing family, home working, granny annexe etc. Additional environmental features can be added in modular form e.g. rainwater collection, solar panels, wood burner, micro-bore under floor heating etc. Modular options include: Communications option – Ductwork allows for an integrated computer/communications network to be included Conservatory option - Single or two storey .
