What is ‘news’? “ News is what people don't want you to know , everything else is advertising .”

What is ‘news’? Raw data transmission is news. Thermometer readings are news. Price quotes are news.

What is ‘news’? Journalism involves interpretation.

What is ‘news’? News aggregation is a form of editing.

What is ‘news’? Twitter is news flow. Twittering is not journalism.

‘ News cycles’ are being replaced by ‘news streams’ just as old media is being replaced by news brands.

Who will pay for news journalism? Advertisers and subscribers.

Who will pay for news journalism? Alternative revenue from non-profits, charities and vested interests. Don’t worry about lost impartiality, we never had it.

Who will pay for news journalism? Guido sells advertising, sells stories and sells T-shirts. Minimal MSM journalism, appearance fees.
