The Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise also provides a high level of security and reliability. One of the main enhancements integrated is Spatial Mirroring over corporate Network. This Mirroring allows the installation of two servers (one main and one back up) to improve availability of the solution. This redundancy can be done by placing both servers into two different locations . Then in case of physical problems (fire, floods or other disasters), the back up server is able to maintain operations. The switch is fully transparent for users, even for those in communication.
In order to be more accurate, when speaking about Voice over IP, it is necessary to distinguish the four possibilities of the INT-IP. The first one is for IP Trunking: interconnection of Call Servers over an IP network.(Either OmniPCX’s or H323 compliant IP-PCX) The second one is IP telephony: provision of the necessary services for IP telephony such as signaling, voice guidance, and peer-to-peer switching handling voice calls on the IP network. The third case is the Media Gateway connection. Last but not least, the INT-IP provides the gateway function so that calls outside the IP cloud, e.g. PSTN, ISDN can be made. All these features are provided simultaneously by the same INT-IP up to 60 channels.

In order to interconnect a legacy telephony environment with an IP network, it is possible to use Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise capabilities. The OmniPCX Enterprise provides all the legacy interfaces et protocols such as: E&M, DPNSS, DC5A, Q-SIG etc, The level of features depends upon the protocol used. It ranges from basic call avec E&M to a more elaborated feature avec Q-SIG.
