3. Irena smuggled infants in the bottom of her
tool box placed in the back of her truck and
also used the sack, (for older children).
Always accompanied her to her dog trained to
bark when the Nazi soldiers came to the
ghetto and beyond, the soldiers of course will
not go near a dog barks on the increased
intensity sound of children or babies.
Irene eventually managed to smuggle out and
save 2500 babies and children.

4. She was captured, the Nazis broke her legs,
hands and beat her severely.
Irena kept a record of the names of all the
children escape, and kept them in a glass jar
buried under a tree in her backyard of her.
After the war she tried to locate any surviving
parents for family reunification.
Most families were wiped out with gas.
The children she helped to escape to foster
families, or give up for adoption.
