5. Masthead is usually along the
top of the magazine this could be
because so the magazines name
is instantly visible and away from
all the other things on the cover.
If the masthead were in the
middle the audience may not see
it straight away. The magazine
cover sells the magazine to the
audience
The main central image is
usually in the middle of the
magazine cover this is
because it is the main focal
point of the magazines cover
Sub-Images are usually towards the
bottom of the magazine cover and not
necessarily easily visible to the
audience they are placed towards the
bottom of the page because they are
not as important as the main image.
Different fonts used are used to give the
magazine variety and a unique selling point.
Because if the magazine covers fonts were all the
same it would be boring and less appealing.
Different fonts are used because it helps to
create a house style for the magazine, this may
include pictures, colours and fonts. For example
the house style colours used for NME magazine
are red and white.
Cover lines are used
to show the
audience what’s
inside the
publication
Barcodes are usually very
small and are placed in
either corner because it is
one of least important
parts of the magazine
therefore it is lest
significant.
