4. The beech tree is a deciduous tree - it loses its leaves in autumn.

5. In spring leaves grow again. They are 5-10 cm long and 3-7 cm wide. When the beech tree is over 30 years old it starts to flower. There are male and female flowers.

6. The beech fruits are called beechnuts. They are triangular nuts 15-20 mm long and 7-10 mm wide. There are usually four nuts in each cupule.
