IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE IN THE MOUNTAINS The temperature in the Alps has risen at almost twice the global average Since 1850, glaciers in the Alps have lost 50% of their volume Snowfall levels in the French Alps dropped an average of 64 centimetres between 1960 and 2007. The loss of snow-cover is expected to be about about 35 per cent by 2035

21. Montagne Verte : The Team In March 2019 Montagne Verte came to life, and work began organising community events and developing an online presence to raise awareness. At the same time Governments around the world were declaring climate and ecological emergencies and it became clear that Montagne Verte needed to look at sustainability as a whole. Today Montagne Verte is overseen by a Conseil D’Administration and run principally by a core Team of volunteers. It was officially registered as a not-for-profit public benefit association in August 2019.

Zero carbon | Zero waste | Total (bio)respect : our vision Zero carbon Zero waste Total (bio)respect Reducing our carbon footprint alone is a matter of solidarity: can we enjoy the snow without taking our share of the effort required to preserve the climate? Can we ignore the fires in Australia, California, Amazonia, Sweden, Russia, Portugal and Greece? Our house is on fire,, can we look away? Our strength: Avoriaz is a successful model of successful pedestrian and horse-drawn transport. The mountains are a fragile, pure and diverse environment and we protect that. Should the thousands of visitors that sustain our resort need to produce so much unprocessed or unprocessable waste? Can we move towards a more circular economy in line with the cycle of life and natural ecosystems? Our strength: Our 4,000 inhabitants can influence the impact of 42,000 beds. The diversity of plant, animal, social, cultural and linguistic life is our wealth. We want this to stand out, making sure that each visitor leaves with the feeling of having lived, touched, experienced, rediscovered life in all its biological and human richness. An introductory experience in the respect of (bio)diversities. Our strength: 50% of our visitors are foreigners and we live close to Natura 2000 zones, in the Chablais Geopark, with an exceptional environment.

Simply by switching to existing modes. So how can this switch be implemented in a desirable and effective way? These scenarios are based on simplified hypotheses. The simulation hypotheses (frequentation, distance) are to be refined by an ad hoc study with the Tourist Offices.
