A Zoology degree is often thought to involve work on zoos. This is not the case. Here I show what is contained within a Zoology degree and what skills it gives me that are attractive to employers.

4. But that's not all! It also covered... Ecology Ecotoxicology Genetics Conservation Paeleobiology Effect of chemicals on animals and the environment. History of life on Earth. Protection of animal populations and their habitats. Animal's interaction with its environment. How traits arise and are transmitted to the next generation.
5. It wasn't all in the lecture theatre... … we got out in to the field.
7. Though it wasn't always that exotic! We also worked in; The Peak District National Park Parkland in Sheffield
8. Projects included... Behavioural Studies Surveying Genetic Analyses Fish Personalities. Woodlouse grouping behaviour. Locust jumping behaviour. Identify fish species from a sample. Identify genes. Effect of disturbance on plant distribution.
9. What does a degree in Zoology offer employers ? Well, apart from extensive knowledge of animal biology and the environment.
10. A Whole Host of Skills! Teamwork and also Working on your own Initiative completing projects...
11. … then Presenting the results to a variety of audiences.
12. Followed by Writing up a concise report, which requires Analysis of large Data Sets and Critical Evaluation of literature.
13. Designing and executing experiments took Flexibility and quick Decision Making to Solve Problems within Tight Deadlines.
14. All this requires Self-Management in order to set Personal Goals and to Manage time effectively.
15. As you can see, there is a lot more to a Zoology degree than animals!
