Before anyone came to know about high-definition wedding video technology, the
progenitors of video, such as 8mm, 16mm and 35mm films, were among the firsts to be
introduced in the market. To recount the movement of the wedding video industry, here
are some facts:
(1) EARLY DEVELOPMENT. Essentially, wedding videography is an art that
requires resourcefulness. The early life of video industry started when films,
such as 8mm and 16mm were the only devices that were available and capable
of covering moving pictures. The film technology, however, had a number of
limitations, one of which is the "four minutes loading time." This limitation
required the camera operator to reload another cartridge every after four-
minute exposure of the film device. At any rate, many people still enjoyed
significant profits in wedding video documentations using films.
(2) LOW-QUALITY AUDIO AND IMAGES. The development of wedding
videography proved to be primitive. Early camera devices produced fuzzy
photos with not-so-good color and audio quality despite the presence of bright
lights. In fact, those devices were too big that another cable is required so they
can get connected to the video recorder system. In effect, this feature limited
the movements of the video operator.
(3) THE ADVENT OF CAMCORDERS. The Sony technology made way for
camcorders. Such a device made it possible for the masses to realize that
wedding video coverage and documentation were not only for the high-class
individuals but also for the common folks. The early users of this technology
included hobbyists and a number of video professionals.
(4) FORMATION OF WEVA. Wedding videographers started to make themselves
more stronger in the early part of 1990s. They formed the largest group of
wedding video professionals called "Wedding and Event Videographers
Association" or WEVA. The formations of international groups that mainly
advocate wedding video development encouraged most camera and video
professionals to look forward for something better.
(5) THE POST-PRODUCTION METHODS. With regard to post-productivity

documentation, including but not limited to music videos, anniversaries,
family biographies, graduations, christenings and birthdays. As the video
industry gets more in demand, public consumers have so much options, such
that they can easily shop for affordable wedding video packages.
(7) PRESENT DAY DEVELOPMENT. Other than the introduction of high-
definition video programming, the blu-ray disc technology also prevailed in
the market. Production tools like steadicams, sliders, live webcasts, as well as
many software options for editing became available.
