HAITÍ , A POOR COUNTRY
• Haití is a country of the Antilles, situated in
  the western part of the island La Española.
• The total area of Haiti is 27.750 Km2.
• Haití has got 10,033,000 habitants.
• Its capital is Puerto Príncipe.
• Haití is one of the poorest countries.
EARTHQUAKE IN 2010, THE WROST
          SINCE 1770
• On 12th January, 2010, Haití suffered the
  wrost earthquake since 1770.
• The earthquake had a magnitude of 7.2
  degrees on the Richter scale.
AFTERSHOKS
• During the nine hours after there were about
  26 aftershocks greater than 4.2 degrees.
• But the greatest aftershock occurred on 20th
  January with a magnitude of 6.1 degrees.
MANY PEOPLE DIED AND MANY
          PEOPLE INJURED
• The Minister in Haití said that there were
  140.000 victims.
• People removed bodies from the rubble, but
  around 150 staff still missing.

DAMAGE
• While many houses collapsed after the
  earthquake, other government buildings,
  including the National Palace collapsed too. A
  hospital in Petionville, in Puerto Príncipe,
  which treats diplomats and wealthy Haitians,
  collapsed too caused by the earthquake.
HELP FOR HAITÍ
• After the earthquake that hit the country,
  humanitarian aid was immediate, as well as
  Republica Dominicana, Estados Unidos, Cruz
  Roja Internacional and Banco sent money,
  food, volunteers, firefighters, experts and
  even specialized search dogs to assist the
  country.
