Palliative care is focused on the physical and

someone living with a serious illness but doesn't

12. The COVID-19 pandemic had a severe impact on the
healthcare industry – both patients and caregivers
alike. The challenges imposed by the virus created
numerous bottlenecks in appropriate delivery of quality
care.
Shifting focus to the vulnerable part of the
population—those with terminal illnesses—the need of
personalized care arises, thus highlighting the importance of
hospice care.
Hospice care focuses on comfort and quality of life for
patients and their families. It can help with pain
management, emotional support, spiritual guidance,
medical information, and access to other services like
counseling after death.
Hospice offers many services that can make patients' lives
easier in addition to giving family members peace of mind
when they know someone has provided care to their loved
ones.

witnessing the quality of her great grandmother's end-of-life
care.
At two different hospice agencies, her great grandmother
was treated with minimal compassion by care teams more
interested in their employer's bottom line than providing
quality end-of-life care for their own patients.
Drawing on decades of business experience, Inessa resolved
to establish her own hospice and palliative care agency
staffed by compassionate professionals focused on
providing 5-star service.
While the COVID-19 pandemic created barriers for
providing hospice and palliative care, Inessa is proud to
lead the New Vision Hospice and Palliative Care team in
providing quality service & care for all of their patients.
As excerpts from her own professional journey, Inessa
shares a few words of wisdom for those aspiring to venture
into the hospice care niche: "Be extremely organized, ask
for help when you need it, give yourself time to learn, be an
active listener, build relationships with your colleagues."
We Will Not Rest Until We Have Given Our Best
We asked Inessa about the challenges she and her team
faced during the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, to
which she said, "Inadequate supplies of personal protective
equipment, changes in hospice services, and decreased
access by hospice personnel to patients in long term care
facilities were the major challenges. Flow of patients
through hospice care settings was also impeded. Agencies
experienced changes in workforce availability and
increased emotional support needs of staff. Patient and
families experienced increased bereavement needs."
A Hopeful Tomorrow
Sharing her vision for New Vision Hospice & Palliative
Care's future endeavors, Inessa states, "Telehealth will
be a cornerstone of future health care policy following
the COVID-19 pandemic, with Medicare Advantage
plans as one engine for growth. Expansion of telehealth
services across the health care continuum accelerated
rapidly due to efforts to stem the spread of the novel
coronavirus. These developments will likely shape
health care for years to come including for hospice
and palliative care providers."

16. The Future of the
Mobile
Application Market for
Pregnant
Women
About 140 million women give birth worldwide
every year, and over 60% download mobile
pregnancy applications. It is a dynamic market that
is attracting a growing number of users, advertisers and
investors. If you wish to find out the various factors that are
stimulating its growth and shaping strategies for key
players, this article is the perfect match.
Use of Mobile Application for Pregnant Women
Pregnancy apps give women informational and emotional
support. Future parents can find answers to frequently asked
questions about health, psychology, and their changing
lifestyles. A woman can track changes in her body using
health charts and, if necessary, receive telemedicine
consultations.
Communication with other pregnant women through chats
helps them socialize and find solutions to common
problems, while marketplaces offer them necessary and
desirable products at a discount. In addition, pregnancy
apps are quickly becoming EdTech platforms offering
tutorials, workshops and expert training.
Application developers are actively implementing AI
technologies, which make interaction with users more
personalized.
Factors Driving Growth
The market is affected by both short and long-term trends,
including the Covid-19 pandemic; the growth of mobile
Internet users and an increased trust in mobile services.
During the pandemic, pregnant women found themselves at
risk, because a consultation at a clinic became associated
with the possibility of infection. Women have since started
to use pregnancy apps as a source of information and a
secure channel to communicate with doctors.
This was facilitated by the increased penetration of mobile
Internet around the world. The number of Internet users is
increasing by 4% per year, and most of them (92.4%) use

increased by 40.6% compared to the previous year, reaching
29.91 Mb/s. Costs have also become more accessible,
dropping from $8.18 to $4.07 per gigabyte over the last two
years, which is more than half.
In 2021, digital health raised $29.1 bln in investments,
twice as much as the year before. Of these, femtech
companies received $1.2 bln, which also set a new record.
Solutions for pregnant women is now the largest femtech
segment, with a 21% market share.
Current Market Scenario
According to AppMagic 's analytics, over the past five
years, the number of downloads of the ten most popular
pregnancy apps has grown from 10 mln to 46 mln per year.
Annual growth hit 71% and continues to rise due to
expansion in emerging markets.
Players use two main monetization models:
Ÿ Subscription. This model is popular in developed
countries with a high-paying audience.
Ÿ Advertising. Pregnancy apps are attractive to
pharmaceutical and FMCG companies. Since women
use the apps for 7-9 months, during which they may
experience anxiety and stress, advertisers can build
long-term and trusting relationships with women and
their loved ones through this channel. Applications unite
a niche audience that can be segmented by socio-
demographic indicators, week of pregnancy, or
trimester.
According to JC Market Research, the income volume of
participants in the pregnancy app market in 2021 amounted
to $96.3 million, which is 5.5% higher than the previous
year. The industry volume is expected to grow by 6.2% per
year and will likely reach $165.8 million in 2030.
Pregnancy apps are at the crossroads of the femtech and
parenting tech markets. This niche's total addressable
market (TAM) can be estimated at $1.2 trillion, and the
serviceable addressable market (SAM) at $550 billion.
Futuristic Roadmap
According to the UN forecast, by 2050 world population
will increase by 2 billion people - from today's 7.7 bln to
9.7 bln. This means that the number of pregnant women
will rise accordingly. At the same time, 1/3 of the
population, mainly in developing countries, is still not
covered by mobile Internet.
Thus, the geographic expansion for players will be directed
at emerging markets.
Pregnancy app developers will look for ways to get around
the "objective" market restrictions, of which there are two.
First, this is a relatively small audience; 140 mln pregnant
women is a rather narrow audience for companies with
global ambitions. Secondly, there is the gestational age,
which is limited to 9 months. Consequently, companies will
seek to expand their audience and increase user lifetime
(LT). How will they achieve this?
To expand their audience, pregnancy apps will generate
functionality for the entire family, evolving from FemTech
to FamilyTech services. Studies show that men who use
pregnancy apps become more involved in pregnancy issues
and more attentive to their partners. Thus, the market's
target audience, when considering relatives of pregnant
women, could grow to about 1.2 billion people.
The terms of use of applications will expand due to
functionality aimed at preparing for pregnancy and the
postpartum period. Thus, the user lifetime can increase to 4-
5 years.
Wrapping Up
The market for mobile applications for pregnancy
management is not saturated. Its further growth will be
ensured by the continued penetration of mobile Internet,
expansion into emerging markets, and the expansion of
functionality for both women and their families. It is
becoming very attractive to both investors and
entrepreneurs.
As part of the digital health industry, pregnancy
management apps will help ensure that pregnant women
and their loved ones have equal access to up-to-date
medical information and digital health benefits throughout
the world.

Why

Matter
ospice care is a particular form of medical care
Hthat focuses on providing support and comfort to
individuals with life-limiting illnesses and their
families. While the concept of hospice care has been around
for centuries, it has gained significant recognition and
importance in recent years. As society continues to place a
greater emphasis on compassionate end-of-life care, the role
of hospice care providers has become increasingly crucial.
When individuals face a life-limiting illness, they often
require a unique form of care that addresses not only their
medical requirements but also their emotional and spiritual
well-being. Hospice care providers possess the expertise
and specialized knowledge necessary to navigate the
complexities of end-of-life care. They understand the
physical symptoms and challenges associated with various
illnesses, and they are equipped with the skills to effectively
manage pain and alleviate discomfort.Expertise in End-of-

highlight the benefits of professional care in hospice
settings.
One of the key reasons why hospice care providers matter is
their specialized expertise in end-of-life care. These

symptoms, pain and discomfort associated with terminal
illnesses. They are trained to address the physical,
emotional and spiritual needs of patients, ensuring optimal
comfort and quality of life during the final stages of life.
With their expertise, hospice care providers can effectively
manage symptoms, provide pain relief and offer
individualized care plans tailored to each patient's unique
needs.
Comprehensive and Individualized Care
Hospice care providers offer comprehensive and
individualized care that considers the specific needs and
preferences of each patient. The care provided is holistic,
focusing not only on physical well-being but also emotional
and spiritual support. By developing personalized care
plans, hospice professionals ensure that patients receive the
attention and assistance they require to maintain comfort
and dignity throughout their end-of-life journey. This
individualized approach helps to alleviate suffering and
promotes a sense of empowerment and control for patients
and their families.
Emotional and Psychosocial Support
Facing a terminal illness can be emotionally overwhelming
for patients and their loved ones. Hospice care providers
recognize the importance of emotional and psychosocial
support during this challenging time. They offer counseling,
guidance and a compassionate presence to help individuals
navigate their emotions, fears, and concerns. By creating a
supportive environment, hospice professionals provide
reassurance, facilitate important conversations, and assist in
coping with grief and loss. The emotional support offered
by hospice care providers can help patients and families
find comfort and peace amidst the turmoil.
Caregiver Support and Education
Hospice care providers also play a crucial role in supporting
caregivers who are taking care of their loved ones during
the end-of-life journey. They provide valuable education,
training and resources to help caregivers navigate the
challenges associated with caregiving. Caregivers receive
guidance on managing medications, addressing pain and
symptoms, and providing personal care. Additionally,
hospice professionals offer respite care services, allowing
caregivers to take breaks and recharge. By supporting
caregivers, hospice care providers enable them to provide
the best possible care while also taking care of their own
well-being.
Coordination of Services and Resources
Hospice care providers act as a central point of coordination
for various services and resources needed during end-of-life
care. They collaborate with other healthcare professionals,
including physicians, nurses, social workers and therapists,
to ensure a multidisciplinary approach. This coordination
helps to address complex medical needs, manage
medications effectively, and provide seamless transitions
between different levels of care. Additionally, hospice
professionals connect patients and families with community
resources, support groups, and bereavement services to
provide a comprehensive support system during and after
the hospice experience.
Enhanced Quality of Life and Dignity
Above all, hospice care providers focus on enhancing the
quality of life and preserving the dignity of patients during
their final stages. Through pain and symptom management,
emotional support, and personalized care, they strive to
improve the overall well-being of patients. Hospice
professionals understand the importance of creating
meaningful moments, fostering connections with loved
ones, and facilitating opportunities for patients to reflect on
their lives and find closure. By prioritizing comfort, respect,
and dignity, hospice care providers make a significant
positive impact on the end-of-life experience for both
patients and their families.
Conclusion
Hospice care providers are essential in providing
comprehensive, compassionate, and specialized care during
the end-of-life journey. With their expertise in end-of-life
care, individualized approach, emotional support, caregiver
assistance, coordination of services, and focus on enhancing
quality of life, these professionals make a momentous
difference in the lives of patients and their families. By
choosing professional hospice care, individuals can find
comfort, support, and dignity during a time that matters
most, allowing them to embrace the final stages of life with
peace and acceptance.

Building a Better World with Peace, Safety and Security
The era of the twenty-first century has redefined the
idea of "world peace." Despite being in the midst of
geostrategic uncertainties, international
governments face challenges of satisfying basic needs
which should be addressed with grave attention.
"True peace can only be achieved when people have enough
to eat and live decently," as per the World Affairs report.
For eliminating human deprivation and poverty, the issue
must go hand-in-hand with attempts to improve health, seek
economic growth and reduce inequality.

What has been your source of motivation in climbing

Being a self-motivated leader, getting my job done is what
motivates me. Working with and training others is also an
inspiration, as I believe in learning something new every

Through my non-profit role, helping people in need is one

What are its core values? How are you driving it to
achieve its mission and vision statement?
Our mission is to utilize our family of global humanitarians
to solve real-life problems in the most disadvantaged parts
of the world. We are hands-on at the grassroots level to
assist women, children, the hungry, the homeless, and
disadvantaged people.
Our vision is that, through our programs, we can help to
reduce disparities in access to education, alleviate hunger
and poverty, end homelessness, and increase sustainability
in many areas, such as preventing child abuse, climate
change, taking care of our environment, helping those in
need to find a way to make a sustainable living, all while
addressing the entire 17 United Nations SDGs.
What are its key offerings? How are you driving it
towards the organization's success?
Our key offerings include funding; free education;
collaboration on projects around the world; and the
Ambassador magazine, which is open to GGAs to showcase
their work. We also work with Chrissy Sykes' child abuse
prevention program, which has been taught to more than a
million children around the world.
Right now, the world is going through a hunger crisis or
food insecurity. This is a worldwide issue, and we are
helping keep food on the shelves at foodbanks and shelters.
We drive this to success by actively listening to one another
and through teamwork.
Could you elaborate on the GGAF Learning Institute
and how it is empowering the youth.
In many countries, either college is an expensive
involvement that is cost-prohibitive or there is no school
nearby. We offer a way for individuals to take courses
through our GGAF Learning Institute that are vital to any of
the work they do, including critical thinking, business
ethics, and more.
This empowers everyone by showing their 'continued
education' on their resume while they learn new material or
freshen up in areas, they may be educated in. It also lifts
the person's spirits when taking our classes and gives them
a sense of self-worth.
What strived you towards creating a global impact and
changing the lives of many others?
The outcome we hope for is "world peace." We feel that
teaching others about different cultures helps them
understand and accept others for who they are. We are one
world, and it's something we try to teach in GGAF. We
believe in "being the change we want to see."
We believe in human rights and work toward the UN SDGs
on a daily basis. Education is the key to spreading our arms
around the world and taking in the beauty that every
country has to offer.
We also have a "Youth Leadership" program running where
students have taken three classes and are now working on
projects of their choice in the areas of community, children
and the environment. This is a long program, and we want
this to be one of the first that gets youth excited and
involved, and they will pass what they have learned to other
youth in their community.
What are the future goals for your foundation? How do
you envision upscaling its operations and reach in 2023
and beyond?
The GGAF Learning Institute will continue to grow as
more classes are added. The Ambassador helps with
funding as we allow advertising for a donation rate. I see
both of these areas being the keys to our growth in 2023.
Our goal is to keep helping as many people as possible. We
will be extending our reach for donations beyond LinkedIn
and using other methods for fundraising. We have set new
goals for fundraising and now that the COVID-19 concerns
are settling, GGAF will be planning more in-person
fundraisers.

care to individuals with life-limiting illnesses. They are key
in providing compassionate and holistic end-of-life care to
individuals with life-limiting illnesses. Their primary goal
is to enhance the quality of life for patients and support
their families during this challenging time.
Hospice care is typically provided to patients who have a
fatal illness with a prognosis of six months or less to live.
These providers offer a range of services that address
patients' physical, emotional and spiritual needs, focusing
on comfort, dignity and symptom management. Moving
forward into the future, the landscape of hospice care is
evolving to meet the changing needs of patients and
families.
Let's explore the emerging trends and innovations in
hospice care shaping the future of end-of-life care.
Person-Centered Care
In the future, hospice care providers are embracing a
person-centered approach, recognizing that each patient has
unique needs and preferences. This shift involves tailoring

a sense of dignity, respect and empowerment for patients,
ensuring their needs are met holistically.
Telemedicine and Virtual Care
Advancements in technology have brought forth
telemedicine and virtual care as valuable tools in hospice
care. The future holds great potential for virtual
consultations, remote monitoring and telehealth visits,
enabling patients to receive care in their comfort zone.
Telemedicine can enhance access to specialized services,
reduce unnecessary hospitalizations, and provide ongoing
support to patients and their families, despite their
geographical location. This innovation not only improves
convenience and accessibility but also promotes continuity
of care, enabling patients to remain connected with their

The integration of complementary and alternative therapies
is gaining momentum in hospice care. Innovations such as
music therapy, art therapy, massage and acupuncture have
demonstrated positive outcomes in improving physical
comfort, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life.
In the future, hospice care providers will increasingly
incorporate these integrative therapies into their care plans,
addressing the multidimensional needs of patients and
promoting a sense of tranquility and peace. These therapies
offer non-pharmacological approaches to pain and symptom
management and emotional and spiritual support.
Palliative Care Partnerships
Collaboration between hospice care providers and palliative
care teams is a growing trend in the future of end-of-life
care. Palliative care focuses on symptom management and
improving quality life for patients with serious illnesses,
often working alongside hospice providers to ensure a
seamless transition. By partnering with palliative care
specialists, hospice care providers can offer comprehensive
support throughout the entire continuum of care, addressing
the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and
their families. This collaboration ensures that patients
receive the right care at the right time, regardless of the
stage of their illness.
Enhanced Caregiver Support
Recognizing the vital role of caregivers in the hospice
journey, future care models will prioritize comprehensive
support for these individuals. Caregiver training programs,
respite care services and emotional support networks will
be implemented to alleviate the physical and emotional
burdens faced by caregivers. By ensuring caregivers' well-
being, hospice care providers can enhance the overall
experience for patients and families, allowing them to focus
on creating meaningful moments together. Caregivers will
be equipped with the necessary skills and resources to
provide optimal care and support, promoting a sense of
empowerment and reducing caregiver burnout.
Ethical Considerations
The future of hospice care will prioritize ethical
considerations surrounding end-of-life decision-making.
Providers will increasingly engage patients and families in
conversations about advance care planning, including
discussions on treatment preferences, goals of care, and
end-of-life wishes. By empowering individuals to make
informed decisions and honoring their choices, hospice care
providers can ensure that care aligns with patients' values
and goals, promoting a dignified and personalized end-of-
life experience. This approach fosters open communication,
shared decision-making, and respect for patient autonomy.
Conclusion
As we look ahead, the future of hospice care providers
holds promising trends and innovations that aim to
revolutionize end-of-life care. From person-centered
approaches to the integration of telemedicine, integrative
therapies, palliative care partnerships, enhanced caregiver
support, and ethical considerations, these advancements are
geared towards improving the overall quality of life for
patients and families. By embracing these trends and
innovations, hospice care providers can continue to provide
compassionate, holistic, and individualized care during the
end-of-life journey, supporting patients and their loved ones
when needed.

omeone dies from suicide every 40 seconds. Each
year, depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses
affect approximately 20% of adults in Western
countries. Globally, the World Health Organization
estimates that one-eighth of the world endures mental ill-
health annually, and these numbers are based only on
reported cases. The actual prevalence is likely much higher.
Due to stigma, prejudice and discrimination, many
individuals with psychological illnesses do not disclose
their conditions.
Workplace mental health is a pressing and growing issue,
requiring immediate attention and action. Traditional work
team environments, structures and cultures are increasingly
recognized as factors exacerbating mental ill-health.
Employees at all levels are concerned about the
consequences of discussing their mental health at work.
They silence themselves due to fears of discrimination,
harassment and losing their jobs.
In recent years, there has been strong evidence of a rise in
mental illness in the working-age demographic. Numerous
global trends have contributed, such as the COVID-19
pandemic, technological disruption and the changing nature
of work. While work is our lifeline, unsafe work practices
have amplified anxiety, stress, depression and social
isolation. Long working hours with excessive demands, job
insecurity, low job control, prejudice and discrimination,
inequality, and multiple other risks have all contributed to
increased work-related mental illness.
We spend on average approximately 90,000 hours working
over our lifetime. But despite working in teams, 33% of
adults face loneliness and psychological isolation. As 84%
of suicides occur in the working-age demographic, it is vital
that we combat these trends directly within our workplaces.
In addition to the devastating toll that mental disorders take
on individuals, families and communities, depression and
anxiety significantly impact the global economy. As
highlighted by the WHO, the impact of mental health on the
economy costs an estimated US$1 trillion annually.
Furthermore, around the world, 12 billion working days are
lost yearly because of mental ill-health. In the Australian
context in 2020, mental health concerns were the most
common reason for lowered productivity, impacting 3 in 5
workers.
Psychologically unsafe and mentally toxic workplaces
impact both employees and employers. Left unaddressed,
the consequences of these types of workplace environments
are vast and far-reaching. These include exacerbated mental
health symptoms, distrust and fear, decreased productivity,
more sick leave and absenteeism, social isolation,
discrimination and prejudice, bullying and harassment,
OH&S violations, workers’ compensation lawsuits, a
damaged employer reputation, increased turnover and
associated recruitment costs, and further ramifications.
The good news is that for every US$1 spent on scaled-up
treatment for common mental disorders, there is a US$4
return in improved health and productivity. All levels of an
organization benefit by proactively facilitating safe,
inclusive and healthy team environments.
Along with employee wellness, the benefits and advantages
of better workplace cultures are immense. These include
greater openness, connection and trust; retained knowledge

team cohesion; decreased turnover rates; recognition as an
employer of choice; and compliance with WH&S policies.
In terms of systemic developments, the need to facilitate
psychologically safe work environments is becoming
increasingly recognized as an employer’s legal liability.
However, as previously mentioned, employees are often
reluctant to and uncomfortable with discussing their mental
health in work contexts. Most do not feel sincerely
supported in disclosing their issues, concerns and
suggestions for improvement. They fear managerial
indifference and the risk of losing their positions. I realised
we need a science-backed, tailorable framework and
implementation roadmap that is whole of organization,
efficient and instructive – one that complements existing
well-being and detection programs.
In 2020, I co-founded The United Project, a registered
charitable foundation and non-profit, to address the rise in
mental illness in workplace and team environments. After
working as a senior executive for prominent technology and
management consulting firms, my former career ended in
2015 due to my mental health deteriorating. My breakdown
led to an eventual diagnosis of chronic treatment-resistant
major depression. The toll has impacted every area of my
life, including my self-esteem, identity and values. It is an
ongoing challenge that I will struggle with for the rest of
my life.
The silver lining is that my lived experiences inspired me to
contribute towards a societal issue that needs significant
improvement. I wanted to transform this negative
experience into something positive, that would benefit
others. Several years ago, I partnered with Greg Muller, and
we established The United Project with the intention of
reducing the incidents and severity of ill mental health and
reducing the suicide rate, globally.
We quickly identified that to enact tangible and macro-level
change, we needed to think differently about the problem.
To reduce the number of employees with deteriorating
mental health, it was necessary to focus on prevention
through early detection. We shifted our focus toward
creating an intervention model so that people are supported
well before they endure the worst effects of mental ill-
health at work.
The United Project’s vision is to unite the efforts of the
world’s leaders, employees and industry to deliver
proactive, sustainable change in workforce mental health.
We seek to unite teams through a shared commitment to
mental wellness, promoting belonging, connection, trust,
gratitude, resilience, and individual value. Our goal is to
eliminate work-related mental health discrimination and
decrease suicides. The United Project embraces intelligent,
scalable technologies, with a focus on early-detection tech
that provides personalized insights and support. To create
lasting change, with our partners, we focus on driving
enterprise-wide commitment, integrating interoperable and
intelligent data systems, and enabling cultural
transformation.
Through the United Pledge (“commitment”), we encourage
investment in mental well-being that embeds programs of
acceptance with policy and systemic changes. Our United
Cloud (“capability”) facilitates early detection of mental ill-
health through artificial intelligence (AI), providing access
to personalized, proactive intervention, delivered ethically,
securely and confidentially. United Training (“culture”)
enhances mental health awareness and conversations,
connectedness, relationships and meaning. Lastly, our
United Giving (“cause”) focuses on ensuring that everyone
globally has access to preventative mental healthcare,
including in developing countries.
The United Pledge, United Cloud, United Training and
United Giving programs enable the commitment, capability,
culture, and causes needed to build positive,
psychologically safe, mentally healthy teams at work. Our
programs facilitate personal and team wellness and
resilience. They create healthier lives and boost team
morale, connection and support. Importantly, they reduce
discrimination towards members experiencing
psychological distress and illness. Furthermore, they
increase enterprise-wide accountability for staff well-being.
Together, our programs will reduce the incident rate/onset
of mental health conditions; provide enhanced
organizational performance (as productivity equals
increased output/revenue per cost unit); facilitate systemic,
sustainable industry change at all levels; and reduce the
suicide rate.
