CONTENT 5 All content is relevant to the
task.

Make sure you link your opinions to the general
statement in the rubrics
COMMUNICATIVE
ACHIEVEMENT
3 Uses the conventions of the
communicative task effectively
to hold the target reader’s
attention and communicate
straightforward and complex
ideas, as appropriate.
When planning your answer, think carefully
about the ideas you are going to mention. See the
Glossary of terms on the Moodle platform and
the sample essays in the self-study activity for
examples of more complex ideas.
ORGANISATION 1 Text is generally well organised
and coherent, using a variety of
linking words and cohesive
devices.
To improve your uses of linking words and
cohesive devices, go the Moodle platform and
work through the two activities on organizing
paragraphs and the one on linking ideas. You can
also find useful activities in the Exam support
section of English Exams Lab.
LANGUAGE 2 Uses a range of everyday
vocabulary appropriately, with
occasional inappropriate use of
less common lexis.
Uses a range of simple and
some complex grammatical
forms with a good degree of
control.
Errors do not impede
communication.
.
Make sure you check your work for mistakes
before your hand it in. At this level, you should
avoid mistakes in simple forms (verb tenses for
example) and try to include some more complex
forms (conditionals, passives, relative clauses for
example). There are practice activities on the
Moodle platform under “Grammar and
Vocabulary” and in the Exam support section of
English Exams Lab. Working on the Use of English
activities will also help you improve your
accuracy.
TOTAL 11
Overall comment….
Your answer was just below a passmark. Make sure
you work on your language accuracy andorganisation.
This will help you improve your communicative
achievement, since the use of more complex language
and cohesive devices will help you express more
complex ideas. Keep up the good work and let me
know if any of my comments are notclear.
