2. A. Candidates are not penalised if they fail to reach a
negotiated decision.
B. The candidates are not actively invited to talk to each other.
C. This part tests the candidates’ ability to use general social
and interactional language and to give basic personal
information about themselves.
D. Candidates may be asked individual questions, or asked to
discuss with each other.
E. The questions differ from earlier parts of the test in that
they ask primarily for an evaluation rather than for
information, testing ability to discuss issues in more depth.

Candidates should not speak during their partner’s long turn.
This part tests the candidates’ range of language and their
ability to invite the opinions and ideas of their partner; they
are expected to share the interaction in this way and to initiate
and respond appropriately.
Candidates can choose which prompts to discuss and are not
expected to discuss all five prompts in the time available but
should continue their discussion until asked to stop by the
interlocutor.
This part tests the candidates’ ability to speak uninterrupted,
showing their ability to organise their thoughts and ideas, and
express themselves coherently with appropriate language
