The palace consists of two distinct buildings, the
Upper (or Arch) House and the Lower (or Tower)
House. It has a magnificent early 16th-century
Manueline doorway.

Renaissance windows, and bas-reliefs from the
workshop of João de Ruão, which, according to
tradition, was situated just a few metres up the hill.
