How to be an Award Winning Chapter

For Today...
 opportUNITY

 3 Keys

 Awards
opportUNITY
 Positive change
 Helping others
 Bringing members
    together
 Sense of pride
 Benefitting your
    community

 2008 marked the thirteenth
    year Alpha Tau Omega and
Zeta Tau Alpha were the top
    money raising
    organizations.
 ATO and ZTA raised more
    than $200,000 combined

 Awards
3 Keys
 What do you think are the 3 keys to
    becoming an award winning student
    organization?
3 Keys
 Doing

 Recording

 Applying

Takeaways = plan ahead & execute
3 Keys
 Doing
 What events are we already involved with?
 What could we do that lives up to the purpose of
     our organization?
 What will create opportUNITY?
 Is there an opportUNITY to get involved with
     another organization?
 How will you motivate your org, and others, to
     participate?
3 Keys
 Recording
 Doing is great, but throwing away opportUNITY
     when you don't record
 Someone's unique responsibility
 Establish a process
     Coordinate with event planners
     Attend and participate
     Take pictures
     Write a quick “write-up” after
     Share with organization
 Keep in a safe place with other event records
Program Write-up
Submitted by: Date:

What was the title of the program?

Who sponsored the program?

What was the event cost/budget?

Did the event raise money, if so, how much?

How did the program help your chapter/others?
What did your organization learn?
Would you do anything differently if you were to participate/organize again?
3 Keys

 Read directions! No partial applications
 Understand purpose of award
 Write from reviewer's perspective... why you?
 Proofread

 Take your time, just be on-time
 Apply!
