Ethics• Ethics is a code of behavior that a societyconsiders moral and appropriate for guidingrelationship with one another.• Ethics deals with things to be sought andthings to be avoided, with ways of life andwith telos (Telos is the chief aim or end inlife)• Ethics are standards of right and wrong,good and bad. Ethics are concerned withwhat one ought to do to fulfill one’s moralduty. There are two aspects to ethics: Being able to determine what is right orwrong, good or bad ,& , Commitment for doing what is right andgood.

Thedefinition of values applies to things thatare desired as well as what one ought todo, and can include such concepts aswealth, happiness, success, andfulfillment.• Ethics define how a moral person shouldbehave; values include other beliefs andattitudes that guide behavior.

Branches of EthicsEthics can be divided into various branchesMeta-ethics: Meta-ethics deals with the meaning oftruth-values in theory and refers to moralpropositions.Normative Ethics: Normative Ethics deals with thepracticality of actions & it examines standards forthe rightness and wrongness of actions.Applied Ethics: Applied Ethics refers to moral andethical outcomes that can be achieved, inparticular situations.Moral Psychology: Moral Psychology deals with thedevelopment and nature of moral capacity.Descriptive Ethics: Descriptive Ethics are moralvalues that most people follow and stand by.
