Rank of skills

  1. 1. RANK of SKILLS
  2. 2. Rank of Skills conceptually defined as a template designed to determine which skills will be classified as mastered, nearly mastered and least mastered.
  3. 3. What do you need? •Frequency of Correct Response •Rank of Skills Template (soft or hard copy) •Laptop / PC (if soft copy) •Calculator (if hard copy) •Curriculum Guide or Table of Specification (for competencies per quarter)
  4. 4. How to construct Rank of Skills? •1st column – no. of skills
  5. 5. How to construct Rank of Skills? •1st column – no. of skills •2nd column – topics and competencies
  6. 6. How to construct Rank of Skills? •1st column – no. of skills •2nd column – topics and competencies •3rd column – no. of items
  7. 7. How to construct Rank of Skills? •1st column – no. of skills •2nd column – topics and competencies •3rd column – no. of items* •4th column – item placement * * - make the items and its placement in order but with variety of difficulty (easy, average or difficult)
  8. 8. How to construct Rank of Skills? •5th – 14th column – Grade and Sections depending on the number of sections
  9. 9. How to construct Rank of Skills? •5th – 14th column – Grade and Sections depending on the number of sections •15th columns – actual total score or ATS
  10. 10. How to construct Rank of Skills? •5th – 14th column – Grade and Sections depending on the number of sections •15th column – actual total score or ATS •16th column – highest possible total score or HPTS
  11. 11. How to construct Rank of Skills? •5th – 14th column – Grade and Sections depending on the number of sections •15th column – actual total score or ATS •16th column – highest possible total score or HPTS •17th column – percentage or %
  12. 12. How to construct Rank of Skills? •18th column – ranking of all competencies the number of rows will be depending upon the number of competencies
  13. 13. Steps in ranking the skills •1st – be sure you have the Frequency of Correct Response
  14. 14. Steps in ranking the skills •1st – be sure you have the Frequency of Correct Response •2nd – add the correct responses per no. of items, per class (vertical) and per competency (horizontal) and get its grand total, include the number of examinees per class •3rd – compute for the ATS and its grand total
  15. 15. Steps in ranking the skills •4th – compute the total examinees to compute for the HPTS
  16. 16. Steps in ranking the skills •4th – compute the total examinees to compute for the HPTS •5th – multiple the total examinees with the no. of items per skill
  17. 17. Steps in ranking the skills •4th – compute the total examinees to compute for the HPTS •5th – multiply the total examinees with the no. of items per skill •6th – divide the ATS and HPTS to get the percentage (%)
  18. 18. Steps in ranking the skills •7th – rank the % in descending order the bottom five (5) ranked skills will be considered the least mastered skills
  19. 19. Terms and Formulas to Remember •Actual Total Score / ATS = the sum of all correct responses per competency •Formula •ATS = add the scores per competency
  20. 20. Terms and Formulas to Remember •Highest Possible Total Score / HPTS = the product of all examinees and no. of items per competency •Formula •HPTS = total examinees x no. of items per skill
  21. 21. Terms and Formulas to Remember •Percentage = is the quotient of ATS and HPTS multiply by 100 •Formula •% = ATS / HPTS x 100
  22. 22. “Success is simple. Do what’s right, the right way at the right time” Arnold Glasow
