To place a picture in an InDesign document, first create a new document and use the picture frame tool to draw a box where the image will go. Second, use the Place command under the File menu to select the image file to insert. Finally, right click the picture frame and select "fill frame proportionally" from the fitting menu to have the image automatically resize to fit the frame.

2. Step 1 After opening InDesign, create a new document.

3. Step 2 Select the picture frame tool In the document draw a picture frame box

4. Step 3 Under the File menu, click Place (ctrl + D) Select the picture you want to cut the background out of Right click the picture frame, drop down the fitting menu, & click fill frame proportionally (ALT+SHIFT+CTRL+C)
