MARCH HOME WARRANTY TIP: Clean or replace your HVAC
filters. You need to do this more often than once a year. A dirty
filter forces your HVAC system to work harder, which in turn drains
your wallet. It could also shorten the life of your blower motor.

St. Patrick’s Day
is March 17th
Did you know?
l Green is associated
with St. Patrick’s Day because
it is the color of spring, Ireland,
and the shamrock.
l Leprechauns are also associated with St.
Patrick’s Day, although the only reason
they are is because they’re Irish.
l People give Saint Patrick credit for chasing
all the snakes out of Ireland. The truth is
that snakes are not indigenous to Ireland.
1st Day of Spring—the Vernal Equinox
In the northern half of the world, March 20th is the first day of Spring—when
day and night are each 12 hours long. This day is called the vernal equinox—
vernal means “of spring” and equinox derives from a Latin word meaning
“equal night.” It is the first day of spring north of the equator and the first day
of autumn in the southern half of the world.
It’s Only Spring Fever!
Spring fever commonly occurs with
a sudden warm spell following a long
cold period. When the temperature
rises, the body has to get rid of heat.
Dilation, or expansion of blood vessels, occurs so blood can be carried to the
body surface where heat can be lost quickly to the air. The energetic feeling
experienced is the body’s reaction to the large amount of work going on to
cope with a warming environment.
