- Third meeting in a row to focus on communities role in health systems strengthening!
- Our mission: There is evidence-based data to show how to prevent mortality of women and children, and our meeting will focus on these areas: newborn health, CCM of major childhood killers, maternal care, nutrition and family planning. However, there is less data and understanding as to what constitutes a healthy community esp. a sustainable healthy community – in terms of key program strategies, dollar cost. Our meeting will explore dimensions of the community context that impact on health and wellness. We are looking for advice and guidance on which of these subject areas CORE should pursue more in the future.

- The IMCI WG held a TAG meeting this fiscal year to look at the CIMCI framework and to develop a framework for better understanding community health. This diagramn reflects some of their preliminary thinking, and emphasizes the need for better understanding the community “inuts” that link directly to national programs.
- We currently have 53 members sharing this common concern about community health.
- We soon may have 56 organizations! The Board will re-examine membership criteria during the summer.
- Each WG product responds to the member needs of practical on-the-ground experience, and has relevance to global community issues. WGs are the heart and soul of CORE and provide direction for practical products.
- Presented to Ministers of Finance at the World Bank / IMF Meetings this past weekend emphasizing the importance of the -9 to +2 “window of opportunity” age range.
- 22/85 endorsements are CORE Group members CORE Group responsible for high percentage of all endorsements. HKI part of steering committee!
