Public Relations! The past year, 2012, was an exciting one for me,
with a number of great opportunities for a variety of clients,
both new friends and familiar colleagues, as well as a number of
exciting events. On the following pages you’ll see some photos I took
along the way at various events, as well as videos and clips.
Some of the clients I worked on projects for, during
2012, included:
3. In January 2012, I began working with Rich Masterson, Jordan Lieberman, Jeff Dittus and
others on their team at CampaignGrid to broaden their earned media coverage during the
2012 election cycle. During that engagement, which continued until mid-May, I was on-site
several days per week and worked to gain them national media coverage. I also assisted
the company with the planning and execution of a few trade show marketing opportunities.
On Friday, February 17th, CampaignGrid was featured in two articles -- an overview of the
2012 Presidential election campaign in The Guardian, and an overview of
"hyperlocal" campaign advertising in Street Fight.
On Monday, February 20th, the New York Times featured CampaignGrid in an article about
online data helping campaigns. CampaignGrid was also mentioned in Adweek's January
11th issue.
4. In addition, I worked on re-purposing existing video tape to create the first “CampaignGrid”
video explaining how the company works, for use on their website and in promotional
materials online and in trade shows.

With thanks to Bill Orr of Tel-Ra Productions for production assistance.
5. In February, I worked closely with my long-term client, Eastern
Pennsylvania Youth Soccer to create their 40th Anniversary Celebration at
the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia Downtown. The association's first awards
gala, I helped organize events including providing former
Philadelphia Flyers great Bill Clement in the keynote presentation, former
Philadelphia sports broadcaster Lou Tilley as Master of Ceremonies, and
Special guest appearance by Ben Franklin.
6. Working with the Philadelphia Classic Regatta Series for a second consecutive year,
I worked hard to get this uniquely Philadelphia sports property significant Earned
Media Coverage in local, regional and national press (including the Philadelphia
Inquirer, Rowing News, the Camden Courier and others in the Mid-Atlantic corridor. A
major highlight was a prime feature story on Comcast Sports Net (and the Comcast
Network) called “Drawn to Water.” You can view “Drawn to Water “ in its entirety
by clicking here: http://youtu.be/xS97F9J4zas -- Thank you to Brad Nau at BN
Productions, and John Hogan, Commodore of The Schuylkill Navy. (All photos above
are by yours truly except for the one of me!)
7. For the second consecutive year, I was the
Philadelphia public relations agency working on behalf of
the Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con, one of the largest
pop-culture gatherings on the East Coast. Over the past two
years the event has broken attendance records, and I’ve
worked closely with Wizard World’s corporate team to garner
Greater Earned Media Coverage in a wide variety of media,
with special emphasis on Philly & suburban radio, television,
print and online (particularly bloggers on pop culture). I’ve
even moderated panel discussion at Wizard World Philadelphia
Comic Con the past two years, an honor I treasure. Coverage
on NBC 10, 6 ABC, FOX 29 and CBS 3 as well as MyPHL17, and
scores of local radio gave a great boost to this year’s event.

9.
10. I have had the honor and privilege to work with
ESPN Founder Bill Rasmussen on a
variety of projects since late May 2008.
That work continued in 2012, with a multi-city
radio interview tour (with the assistance of John
Weber at Premiere Radio) as well as a wide-range
of public speaking engagements across the country.
Over the past several years I have booked Mr.
Rasmussen on several local, regional & national
radio and television shows as well as a great many
print and online media interviews.

speaking tour took him to Union College, DePauw

Connecticut, University of Kansas, Rutgers University,
The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania,
University of South Carolina, Wichita State University
& Auburn University. He also spoke at a number of private
and corporate events, including The Build Network
Conference in Miami.
In October 2012, another chapter in Rasmussen’s illustrious
career began when he was named Executive in Residence at
The Robert C. McDermond Center for Management &
Entrepreneurship at DePauw University. Also in early October,
Rasmussen delivered a lecture at DePauw University as part
of the college’s 175th anniversary Distinguished Alumni
Lecture Series. In addition, Rasmussen received the
Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award for Media, and was
inducted into the Media Wall of Fame,

14. On Wednesday, July 26, 2012, I conducted a day
of media training, along with guidelines
on public speaking, for a group of editors
and staff at RUNNER’S WORLD on the
campus of Rodale in Emmaus, PA.
A version of my PowerPoint slides for that
day is available by clicking here.
15. In February & March, 2012, I worked with my
colleagues at Group G Direct to promote the opening
of the first two GreenDrop Charitable Donations
Center locations, the first in Aston (ribbon cutting
ceremony at top left) and the second in Westtown
(both suburban Philadelphia). GreenDrop Charitable
Donations Center is a new, more efficient and “green”
way to donate to veterans.
This new breed of charitable donation center takes
repurposed former gas stations located in a main
business district, bringing new jobs, additional tax
revenues, and an easy, new way for the community to
recycle clothing, blankets, small appliances and
housewares in both a responsible and charitable way.
Items donated at the new GreenDrop Charitable

16. I’ve been working with Philadelphia entrepreneur and actor Rob DeVitis and his advisors since
November 2011, providing public relations support and getting some bookings for him in his role as
“The young and witty Ben Franklin.” He has become a big hit in the historic city of Philadelphia –
where he first came to prominence all those years ago – as well as beyond the region.
The young & witty Ben Franklin served as a special guest “ice cream scooper” alongside former
Pennsylvania Governor/former Philadelphia Mayor Ed Rendell and other local celebrities during the
Philadelphia Business Journal's special benefit for Habitat for Humanity at Bassett’s Ice Cream Co. in
the landmark Reading Terminal Market in Center City Philadelphia. The young and witty Ben
Franklin, along with Governor Rendell and other local celebrities, were on hand as "celebrity ice
cream scoopers" at the event (Thursday, May 17, 2012) celebrating the Philadelphia Business Journal's
30th Anniversary.
17. Among many special appearances for the young & witty Ben Franklin in 2012, he was the guest
master of ceremonies at the Philadelphia Direct Marketing Association’s Benjamin Franklin Award for
Direct Marketing Excellence at the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ (6/7); appeared at Bemidji State
University in Minnesota to celebrate Constitution Day (September 17th); greeted participants at the
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter) Light the Night Walk at the Philadelphia
Museum of Art (October 27th); and presented the opening remarks for the 2012 American Council on the
Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Annual Convention and World Languages Expo at the
Pennsylvania Convention Center (November 16th).
Another notable achievement for the young & witty Ben Franklin was his role appearing on billboards
and other advertising in the Greater Philadelphia region promoting the 16th Annual March of Dimes
Signature Chefs Gala Presented by Lincoln Financial Group, which was held on November 16th at the
Please Touch Museum. The young and witty Ben Franklin also appeared in person at the gala, which
featured Philadelphia’s premier restaurants and chefs raising funds for the March of Dimes with an
evening of food and the annual Signature Chefs Auction.
18. In addition, the young and witty Ben Franklin became a
Preferred Vendor of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau
to provide additional resources to conventions, groups, and
meetings planning to hold events in the Philadelphia area.
Also this past fall, the young and witty Ben Franklin began
offering “A Walk with Ben,” available by advanced reservation
for group tours. “A Walk with Ben” is a new walking tour with
the young and witty Ben Franklin along with the best tour
guides in Philadelphia, throughout the historic Old City
Philadelphia district. It’s the only tour in Philadelphia where you
can be accompanied by the young and witty Ben Franklin.
Other highlights included entertaining Governor Rendell and
over 200 guests at a reception for the North American Southeast
Asia Bar Association Convention at the Pennsylvania Convention
Center (June 28th); presenting the awards to the winning rowers
at the 132nd Independence Day Regatta (July 1); serving as the
tour guide for over a dozen International representatives of RES
Software on a bus tour of the region; presenting the prestigious
“Benny” trophy to the winning club at the annual Philadelphia
Youth Regatta, part of the Philadelphia Classic Regatta Series on
the historic Schuylkill River (July 21st) and delivering the
welcoming remarks and meeting guests in attendance at the
National Association of Power Engineers Convention at the
Pennsylvania Convention Center (July 25th).
19. I worked with Bulldog Construction Co., Inc.
in Coatesville, PA in the fall of 2012 on some
public relations strategies, including
promotion of their work installing the
Milltown Crossing pedestrian bridge in
Downingtown, PA.
20. For the second consecutive year I was honored to be a member of the Lancaster Organizing Committee
for the US Youth Soccer Region I Championships, hosted by my client, Eastern Pennsylvania Youth
Soccer. Working in concert with US Youth Soccer, the Pennsylvania Dutch Convention & Visitors
Bureau, and Eastern PA Youth Soccer, I generated significant Earned media coverage for the weeklong
event (Thursday, June 28th through Tuesday, July 3rd) with a total of 444 soccer matches with 260 teams
from 12 states along the East Coast. I was also honored to be the public address announcer/master of
ceremonies for the second consecutive year. This year’s opening ceremonies were conducted at Clipper
Magazine Stadium in downtown Lancaster, home of the minor league Lancaster Barnstormers.
