Here, we discuss about filter press, one of the most important industrial equipment now a day
for liquid manufacturing companies such as pharmaceutical, chemical, food processing and beverages.
The chemical company produces different types of chemicals but in a very first time, they are in the
form ofsolid liquid slurry. One cannot use it directly without doing filtration process. The liquid slurry
contains so many particles in it. To remove these particles, the filtration machines are used by chemical
industries. The machine can make the chemical pure and usable. It completely removes the impurities
from solid slurry. There are three types of filter presses such as standard type sparkler filter, zero hold
up type sparkler filter press and plate and frame type filter press. All of these three machines are used in
different types of liquid filtration.

Plate & Frame Type Filter Press.
The Plate & Frame type filter Press is used to purify the Liquid from
solids. liquid containing impurities is fed in the inlet port from the
top of the filter press when the impurities get pressed into the
filter press it leaves no trace of liquid into the cake. Then the cake
can be removed by releasing the plate tension. Cleaning the filter
press is also easy.

2. Filter Press – Important Industrial Equipment
Sparkler Filter press:-
The sparkler filter press is used to pure the liquids from liquid solid slurry. In
this machine, the liquid is fed into filter plates giving high pressure on
liquid. The liquid arrives on top of each horizontal filter plates. The filter
media collect the impure liquid and hold them. The filtrate liquid passed to
outlet of the filter. Because of horizontal plate it is also called horizontal
filter press.
Zero Hold Filter Press:
This machine works same as standard type sparkler filter press.
But it works as reverse manner as sparkler filter press so it is also
called reverse flow zero hold up filter press. This machine is used
in pharmaceutical industry, chemical industry and food processing
industry.
These filtration equipment are made using high quality materials and as per standard of Goods
Manufacturing Practice (GMP). They all follow the rules of manufacturing machinery so they called GMP
models. The filter presses (which are GMP model) are made with stainless steel 304 i.e. S.S. 304 and S.S.
316. The whole machinery is constructed with this type of stainless steel and each part is connected to
each other with pumps and pipelines. The industrial filters are available in different sizes and models to
filter the different types of liquid products. The filter press machine consists of stainless steel shells
which are closed using bolts to create and maintain the pressure of the machine. In the main body of
machine, there are several disc types of filter plates which are arranged in horizontal. These plates are in
filter cartridge assembly which can also consist of filter media and interlocking cups.
The whole structured body is standing on a stainless steel trolley so it can easily move from one place to
another place.
In the filtration process, the liquid is fed into the machine and it arrives on top of each horizontal plate
by giving high pressure. The filter media stops the impure liquid and allow the pure liquid ahead in
interlocking cups which takes the filtrate to outlet area of filter. The filtration process may become slow
when the liquid reached its holding capacity in cake. The standard type sparkler filter machine has a
common working mechanism but the zero hold up type machine works in reverse manner of standard
type. So, it is also called reverse flow zero hold up type filter press. The working mechanism of plate and
frame type filter press has different compare to standard type and zero hold up type.
