1) A study embedded library podcasts and videos within an online learning system to enrich first-year teacher education students' learning experience.
2) The resources covered topics like borrowing from the library, using education databases, and developing search strategies.
3) Analysis of student access logs and forum discussions found that embedding media supported students' learning as it was accessible asynchronously and at the point of need. Students reported finding the resources helpful.

Library podcasts and vodcasts
1. WISEShareCase 2009 Adding value to first year student learning with embedded library media Julia Gross
2. Embedding library media media: podcasts/vodcasts can increase student engagement podcasts/vodcasts can enrich student learning blended learning experience embedded ‘just-in-time’ library media collaboration between academic staff and faculty librarians
3. Teacher education case study faculty/library partnership Unit coordinator Teacher Education K-7 first year students Library hands-on workshop Teacher Education first year unit EDL1000 Becoming a Teacher study participants = 323 our hypothesis
4. Our hypothesis The effective utilisation of specific library media, requires that they are strategically placed. By locating media in context, aligned with other learning activities within an academic unit or program, we hypothesised that the media would attract interest and provide data about students’ library literacy and needs
5. Information push approach pilot semester 1, 2009 information push approach support and assist students develop students’ information literacy skills evaluation of these library media
6. Library podcasts/vodcasts Borrowing from the library (audio) Education databases (audio) Developing a search strategy (video) WilsonWeb Education database (video)
7. Media deliveryusing LAMS Learning Activity Management System (LAMS) LAMS plug in within Blackboard purpose built for online learning student-centred learning
9. LAMS forum discussion I do use the databases and find that they take up little time and are very easy to use. I would advise others to use them too I haven’t actually used the education database yet, but now feel, after watching the podcast, that when I eventually do, I will know how to use it
10. LAMS forum discussion The vodcast helped us create better search strategies which will help us find more quality information and will save us time I particularly liked the consistent use of examples to help us understand the theory behind how to develop an effective search strategy
12. What did we learn, about using media? embedded library media supports students asynchronous access at point of need sustainable, re-usable needs updating LAMS ideal medium, not essential
13. What did we learn, our staff? educational partnerships between library and academic staff academic staff bring great student focus need to target academic staff willing to experiment library staff learn new skills
14. What did we learn, about our students? interest in library media from students decreased in interest in more specific library media library awareness in first year TE students useful comments on the Forum good to hear the student voice

Podcasts and vodcasts mediaPodcasts and vodcasts can be effective way to engage studentsLiterature supports this approachSome academic staff using media in the Learning Management System eg Blackboardblended learning experience in many units/courses: mix of online and F2Fcollaboration between academic staff and faculty librarians can move what we do as librarians into student spaceWe had done some podcasts and vodcasts and wanted to place them close to students’ digital home
faculty/library partnershipLibrarians work closely with faculty particularly unit and course coordinatorsFor this study worked with experienced podcaster and Unit coordinatorTeacher Education first year unit chosen as already set up for podcasts and mediaEDL1000 Becoming a TeacherTeacher Education first year students in K-7 courseLibrary workshop in another core unitstudy participants = 323Ethics approval had already been gained to get research data from this groupour hypothesis….
