ABOUT THE HOST INSTITUTION
Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) has succeeded in cultivating a
national character by giving opportunities to aspirants of higher education from all
over the country. The campus is a true manifestation of the diversity of the nation with
unity of purpose. In its pursuit of international excellence, CUSAT has established
academic links with various Universities in Canada, Japan, The Netherlands, Norway,

School of Engineering is one of the departments in CUSAT offering B. Tech
programmes in different branches of Engineering, namely, Civil, Mechanical,
Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Safety and Fire
Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology. The School also offers
M. Tech and Ph.D. Programmes in various disciplines.
ABOUT DI VI SI ON OF CI VI L ENGI NEERING
Division of Civil Engineering is a part of School of Engineering, CUSAT. The
Division offers AICTE approved B.Tech., M.Tech. (Geo-technical Engineering),
M. Tech. (Construction Engineering and Management) and Doctoral programs in Civil
Engineering. Highly qualified faculty and well established laboratories at par with the
premier Institutes of the country are the strength of the division. The Division also
offers consultancy services to various Governmental and Private Agencies.

2. OBJECTIVES OF THE CONFERENCE
BRINGING PEOPLE TO SHARE KNOWLEDGE
The National Conference on Recent Advances in Structural Engineering (RASE-2013)
aims at providing a common platform for professionals, academicians, researchers and
industrialists together to share their knowledge and ideas for achieving focused
developments and advancements in the emerging fields of Structural Engineering. The
conference will help the participants to redefine their horizons in recent innovations in
technology through technical paper presentations and panel discussions. With a focus on
the latest developments and trends, as well as future outlook in the field of Structural
Engineering and challenges in construction, the Division of Civil Engineering, Cochin
University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) has planned to arrange a three days
National conference on “Recent Advances in Structural Engineering (RASE-2013). The
topics for the conference have been chosen based on the thrust areas of research in
academics and in industry.
REGISTRATION
Delegates shall register by paying the fees and submitting
the registration form. The payment shall be made in advance
along with the registration form by crossed DD drawn in
favor of “The Principal, School of Engineering” payable at
Kochi.
IMP ORT ANT DAT ES
Certificate of participation will be issued to all the registered
participants who successfully attend and complete the three
days conference. Registration fee will not be refunded under
any circumstances. However, on request of the author, the
DD will be returned to the applicants whose papers are not
accepted by the technical committee.
THEMES
Fee entitles the delegates to participate in technical sessions,
copy of the proceedings, working lunch and tea during the
course of conference. YOU MUST REGISTER TO
ATTEND THE CONFERENCE.
The conference emphasizes on recent innovations in various disciplines of structural
engineering as listed below.
