2. Diversity is very prevalent in the classroom.
Learners are diverse and need to be
accommodated.
Technology can help you create activities to
help accommodate a diverse classroom.
Also, lessons need to be differentiated to help
accommodate diverse learners.
3. .
Teachers need to understand their student’s ability,
interests, and learning preferences.
Interpersonal - capacity to be highly empathetic and to connect with
others.
Intrapersonal – Enables one to be introspective and to have a deep
understanding of one’s abilities, fears, and motivations.
Linguistic- to understand or communicate through written or spoken
language.
Logical- Mathematical- to use strategies for analysis.
4. Musical- to process and express one’s self through music.
Naturalistic- to relate well to the environment.
Spatial- the ability to mentally and physically divide and order
space.
Bodily-Kinesthetic Learners- manifested through physical
actions with the body, manipulating objects, touching and
feeling objects to better connect and internalize feedback
from the environment.
6. Universal Design For Learning Guidelines
Teachers can accommodate learners by becoming flexible with materials, methods, and
assessments.
Teachers using technology in the classroom will possess the greatest flexibility in planning,
assessment, and implementation. You can achieve the Universal Design For Learning by
following these guidelines.
1. Provide multiple means of representation.
2. Provide multiple means for action and expression.
3. Provide multiple means for engagement.
7. Assistive Technology
Technology used in the classroom can be beneficial
for students, especially students with special needs.
Assistive technology is any piece of equipment, or
product system, whether acquired commercially or
off the shelf, modified, or customized, that is used to
increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities
of individuals with disabilities.
8. "There are all types of interventions that came out to address the needs of students with
disabilities, but anyone can benefit from them and should have the opportunity to use
those accommodations if they want them. Technology allows us to have those types of
interventions readily available Hymes, 2014)”.
9. Culturally Responsive Teachers
Socially conscious
View student’s backgrounds as assets
Feel responsible for helping schools be more responsive to students
Understand how learners construct knowledge
Know about the lives of their students
Design instruction that builds upon students’ prior knowledge and experiences.
10. Equitable Access
As an educator or administrator you are responsible for providing equitable access to
appropriate digital tools and resources. Students should have:
1. Access to up-to-date hardware, software, and connectivity
2. Access to meaningful, high quality, and cultural responsive content and the opportunity
to contribute to that content
3. Access to educators who know how to use digital tools and resources
4. Access to systems sustained by leaders with vision and support for change with
technology.
11. Culture And Technology
A student’s culture plays a big role in how they respond to technology. For example, in
some cultures oral traditions may be dominant, which can make technology perceived
negatively. In result, it is very important to consider cultural preferences when planning to
use materials that require technology.
