2. At 48 years of age, legendary race car
driver Scott Tucker CBS managed to
fulfill one of his dearest dreams: he raced
at the 2010 Le Mans competition in
France.
The car he drove for this event was an
Audi R10, which had won this race three
times in the past.
3. Tucker sped this car around the course in
three and a half minutes. That is
impressive by any standard, but it is
especially amazing since Scott Tucker
CBS only started racing four years
earlier.
In the racing world, that kind of start is
almost unheard of, since most hopefuls
start their training as teenagers or at
least young adults.
4. This year saw Scott Tucker CBS returning
to Le Mans. Scott Tucker CBS and
renowned endurance driver Christophe
Bouchut shared the 2011 title as Tucker’s
team Level 5 Motorsports became that
year’s champions.
Just a few days ago, the team were
crowned again at Sebring in the
American Le Mans Series (ALMS) LMP2
class. This is one of six wins in that
competition.
5. Scott Tucker CBS owns the team, and he
himself has been National Champion
three times already. Other drivers on the
team include Luis Diaz of Mexico and
Portuguese Joao Barbosa.
Both of these drivers have claimed top
spots in past races, as has the fifth
member of the team Ryan Hunter-Reay,
of Texas.
6. Their crew switches up from time to
time, as they are always looking for the
best and most skilled machinists and
others to perform intense maintenance
on the fly during competitions, as well as
between races.
7. Although Tucker is driving an Audi this
time around at Le Mans, his team is
sponsored by Boardwalk Ferrari, an
automotive dealership based in North
America.
Other sponsors for Level 5 range from
unsurprising companies like Honda
Racing, Michelin, and Kennol
Performance Oil, to the more
unexpected, including the record label
Bulldog Records and Crown Royal
Canadian Whisky.
8. The last few sponsors for the team come
from the finance sector, which is
understandable, since that is the industry
where Tucker has worked for a long time.
9. In just a few short years, Scott Tucker
CBS has gone from an unknown to a
household name in the racing world.
Meanwhile, his team has claimed a
number of titles and continues to
outperform many of its rivals. It seems
like this driver came out of nowhere, but
nobody can argue with Scott Tucker
CBS’s ability to get around a course with
speed and style.
