Baltimore Orioles’ Achievements

  1. 1. A credit analyst, John Eckstine joined Citibank Credit Services in 2012. In his spare time, John Eckstine enjoys participating in music programs and following his favorite sports team, the Baltimore Orioles. Formerly the St. Louis Browns, the Orioles officially became Baltimore’s Major League Baseball (MLB) team in 1954.
  2. 2. Drawing more than one million fans to the stadium in its inaugural season, the Baltimore Orioles has had a number of MLB Hall of Fame athletes on its roster over the course of its 60- year history, including Cal Ripken, Jr., Jim Palmer, Brooks Robinson, and Eddie Murray. The team has produced numerous Cy Young Award winners, as well as players named Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player. It’s most recent crop of awards included three Gold Gloves in 2012.
  3. 3. Also in 2012, the Baltimore Orioles reached the postseason for the first time in 15 years. Victorious against the Texas Rangers in the wild card game at Ranger Ballpark, the Orioles were later defeated in five games by the leading American League team, the Yankees. However, the year marked the 20th anniversary of the Oriole Ballpark at Camden Yards as well as a new president of operations, who signed outfielder Nate McLouth.
