- 18. Unfortunately Facebook’s accessibility isn’t all it could be (thankfully Facebook on mobile is more accessible than on desktop)
- 19. Video goes totally mainstream… ‘ By 2013, >25% of the content that workers see in a day will be dominated by pictures, video or audio…’ Gartner Yet captions are expensive, and audio-description is even harder…
- 20. Accessibility standards have successes…
- 21. But also have big gaps… Apps IPTV
- 23. The future… is pervasive digital… for everyone… we hope…
- 24. The future… is more simple… and joined up…
- 25. Example: MyDisplay - a simple accessibility personalisation system Two clicks to change the way the site is displayed…
- 26. Three more clicks to tweak and save your theme…
- 27. And the rest of BBC Online (even mobile) uses your preferences… that ’ s it…
- 28. The future… is ubiquitous – multi-device & joined-up
- 29. MyDisplay: it would be even better if people can take their preferences on their whole journey

- 32. What people really want… Simple & flexible +
- 33. The future… is context-aware… adaptive… multi-modal… Understands you… Knows where you are… Senses the lighting… And noise… And what you are doing…
- 34. In the future, “we” are likely to be “them”…
- 35. And there will be more and more of “ us… ” So accessibility will become more and more important…
