S/4HANA is SAP's latest ERP product that runs on the HANA database. There are two editions, on-premise and cloud, with the cloud edition receiving quarterly updates and on-premise getting annual upgrades. S/4HANA versions are numbered based on the year and month of release. The on-premise edition also receives feature pack and support pack updates throughout its lifecycle. HANA and ECC also have regular version release cycles with varying levels of support. NetWeaver and FIORI also progress through different version releases.

specific support, and localization to the current SAP Business Suite.
• Both editions consist of functionality for finance, accounting, controlling,
procurement, sales, manufacturing, plant maintenance, project system, and PLM,
plus integration with SF and others.

5. S/4HANA On-Premise Versions
In addition to the major annual releases for On-Premise S/4HANA shown on the previous slide, SAP generally ships
several updates for each version per year.
• The first two updates are called Feature Pack Stacks (FPS) and contain new features.
• Support Pack Stacks (SPS) are smaller updates that come later in the version’s lifecycle and contain bug fixes only.

6. SAP HANA Database Versions
S/4HANA operates on the HANA (High performance ANalytic Appliance) database.
• The HANA database will end their maintenance of the 1.0 version by May 2021.
• For reference the two versions referred to are HANA DB 1.00.122 (HANA 1.0 SP12 Rev 122)
& HANA DB 2.00.050.0 (HANA 2.0 SPS05 Rev 50).
• The last SPS of SAP HANA 2 will have a 5-year long term maintenance term which will be
supported through June 2025.
