Organising Apprentices:Why should we bother and why might they?

Unions and Young Workers UNION DENSITY WORKERS AGED16-24 9.6% UNION DENSITY NATIONALLY 27.4%
Barriers identified Lack  of  awareness Outdated  and militant Cost vs. proof  of benefits Fear  of  isolation
I don’t need a union It is impossible to get sacked, because you have got to get a warning, a verbal warning, a so and so warning   I don’t really see how they can help me. If I have got a problem I will go to my line manager. Some of the people I work for are really approachable so I have got enough people at work and procedures in line to look after me I think. I don’t need a union.    Things have changed slightly if you have an industrial dispute now there are much more options open to you to be able to find somebody to help you fight your cause…. The internet is full of places you can go to and people who want to help you sort yourself out…that probably did not exist 10-20 years ago
Articulate the benefits ,[object Object],Why though? I don’t have a decent reason, no one has come and told me this is what we do for you, this is what will be different.  I am not just going to randomly join something hoping that it might be better.  If they want me to join they can come and tell me why. ,[object Object],[object Object]
