 or groundbreaking about what we
        have to share today.
                          Sorry.
Sharing stories to push for change is not
        unique to the digital age.
What is new is the power
   of social media to
 exponentially leverage
    word of mouth.
Speed. Energy. Urgency.
...but often at the expense of
context, relevance, and accuracy.

  • 5. 1. Journalists are trained in human rights reporting 2. Media house produces human rights stories 3. Individuals hear, read or watch the human rights story 4. Individuals share the story with their networks 5. Community begins to talk about the human rights issue 6. Community pushes for change!
  • 8. There is nothing fundamentally new or groundbreaking about what we have to share today. Sorry.
  • 9. Sharing stories to push for change is not unique to the digital age.
  • 10. What is new is the power of social media to exponentially leverage word of mouth.
  • 12. ...but often at the expense of context, relevance, and accuracy.
  • 13. Let’s take a step back and reassess what we consume and share online.
