Editor's Notes

  1. T—What’s the difference between a Learning Record and a Plan of Study? (Read slide) 4-year plan – What have I done? Plan of Study – Where am I going?
  2. T—Read slide. We all use roadmaps (some of us more than others!) to get to where we want to go. That’s what a Plan of Study is. Sometimes life happens and we have to take detours along the way or we change our minds about where we want to go. However, POS are flexible and can be changed at will. Hopefully, students will become more interested and involved in their educational process when they can see the relevance of what they are doing (classes, etc.) and can eventually become the “driver” of their Plan.
  3. Plans of study – can be electronic; can share between sites; really good-can put pre-populated plans of study
  4. Intensive: 7 to 10 indicators Moderate: 5 to 6 indicators Low: 0 to 4 indicators Incomplete: Students did not respond to one or more components of the index 26 sites: over 1000 students assessed

  7. Pre-Engineering and Architecture and Construction are academies approved by SDE In process is a Bio Medical and Bio Tech with an Ag focus—hope to be ready to enroll students by Fall 2007 Why would Tech Centers want to help remediate students who did not pass an EOI? Senate Bill 867 is the one we can remediate.
  8. Keep in mind the ACE College Prep/Work Ready curriculum requires all core academic courses to be approved for college admission. This is the reason AgEd does not automatically count for Science credit under the new curriculum.
  9. Sequence of courses that lead to a career goal; includes HS graduation requirements and other courses that enhance or strengthen the plan. Higher achievement if start early, involve parents, connected to career goal-not just graduation checklist or put in a file. Someone at school also helps them with plan.
