yderabad witnessed
its most glamorous
evening of the year
with the grand finale
of Pantaloons Femina Miss
India South 2012 (PFMI South
2012). The winner Shamata
Anchan, first runner-up,
Rochelle Maria Rao and
second runner-up Nisha
Barahmand were crowned at a
glittering ceremony at Hyderabad
International Convention Centre
(HICC), Novotel.
The gala event kick started with
Gaurav Kapoor and Kavya Ratna, the
hosts for the evening, welcoming the
audience. The stunning contestants
were later introduced to the
audience in fashion rounds.
Round one saw the lovely ladies
walk the ramp in cocktail dresses,
from the collection ‘Champagne &
Caviar’ by Jaya Misra, designed
especially for the PFMI South 2012
finalists. They strutted down the
ramp wearing classy LBDs that
were embellished with shimmer and
sparkle.
Energetic performances by Kamna
Jethmalani and vocalist NC Karunya kept
the audience entertained.
The panel of judges comprised Nicole
Faria, Miss Earth 2010, who started her
reign as PFMI South 2010, celebrated
designer Asmita Marwah, Regional Editor
Femina South, Madhuri Velegar K, Creative
Director Femina Miss India, Marc Robinson,
and reigning queen of Kannada cinema
with bagful of hits, former Femina Miss
India Ragini Dwivedi. Both Nicole and
Ragini looked stunning in creations by
designer Dimple Varma.
Round two, took off with the
finalists sashaying the ramp showing off the
trendy ethnic wear
collection created by Pantaloons. Feminine
and free-spirited being the mantra of the col-
lection, the finalists of PFMI South show-
cased a contemporary Indo-Western fusion
wear. With earthy hues, a hint of shimmer
and silhouettes ranging from straight cut to
free-flowing, the collection is feminine, prac-
tical and impeccably stylish.
The last round saw finalists walk down
the runway in stunning evening gowns
designed by Jaya Misra. While the cham-
pagne coloured gowns perfectly comple-
mented them, it also recreated the
glamour of yesteryears.
The 10 beautiful finalists were then short-
listed to ‘Top 5’ and had to face the question
and answer round by the judges. Based on
the results, the three winners were crowned
amidst much excitement and fanfare.
