The Arctic fox lives in Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Northern Europe, Russia and tundra regions. It eats small animals like lemmings, voles, squirrels and birds as well as eggs and fish, making it a carnivore. During spring, the Arctic fox sheds its thick fur and is left with a thin coat of gray fur. It has an excellent sense of hearing and smell to hunt prey in its cold habitat.
