The Social Savior - SEO results from SOCIAL Marketing
1. Social Media for SEO
How to get safe, effective and long term
“SEO” results using Social Media Marketing.
2. Why use Social Media for SEO?
• Social media marketing can help increase natural
links to your website.
• It forces a sound content strategy that will create a
“good user experience”.
• This is what Google wants.
• Social media can help “water down” the strategic
link building you’re already doing.
• It’s as “white hat” as it gets!
3. How to use Social Media for SEO?
• Build an audience on your social channels.
• Create content people actually want to read.
• Broadcast that content to your audience.
• Drive the audience to your website.
• Take advantage of social proof this creates to build
relationships with “influencers” and “others like us”.
4. Building an Audience
• Create your social profiles – Facebook, Twitter, G+
• Find the influencers in your niche & follow them.
• Follow the influencers followers.
• Post and comment in relevant groups.
• Share, retweet and comment on your influencers
posts.
• Read and comment on influencers blogs.
5. Create content for your website
• Always create content for your website - not just
your social channels.
• Share links to your content – this will drive the user
to your website.
• Pay attention to user feedback – likes, shares,
comments – adjust your strategy.
• Pay attention to what’s working for your influencers
– and do it better.
6. Build Relationships with influencers
• Connect with “people like you”.
• Private message and tell them you found a post
useful, or you’ve been following their blog.
• Let them know you’ll retweet their content to your
audience whenever they need.
• Offer a guest posting opportunity on your website.
• Let the law of reciprocation do it’s thing!
8. More content on your website
• Every article you create for you website is another
keyword ranking opportunity.
– You have the opportunity to rank for hundreds of “long
tail” keywords while your competitors scramble for a
handful of “head terms”.
– Use your using your blog to answer questions people are
asking on Google is a good way to get long tail traffic.
9. More backlinks to your website
• By sharing content across your social channels
you’re likely to gain natural back links from people in
your audience.
– And if you’re lucky some posts will go viral!
• You’ll also get links from influencers you built
relationships with.
– They’ll most likely link to the guest post you offered them.
– And, maybe they offer you a guest posting opportunity
too!
10. Better Engagement Metrics
• All that relevant content you’ve been adding to your
blog is keeping users on your site longer. And
search engines see:
– More visitors to your website.
– A lower bounce rate.
– Increased time on site.
– More return visitors.
– And the search engines see an overall better user
experience.
11. Here’s the overall SEO benefit
• More content on your website = More keyword
ranking opportunities.
• More backlinks = Higher rankings.
• Better engagement metrics = Sustained rankings
over the long term.
13. There’s still the benefit of Social itself!
• You now have an audience, who likes, and recommends
your business to their friends.
• You’ve got massive amounts of “social proof” on your social
channels and website – which can make people more
comfortable buying from you!
• You get traffic directly from social – they might not always
buy straight away – but if they do it will be from you.
• You’re connecting with your clients, and potential clients –
offering an overall better experience than your competition.
