Characteristics of Organizations with this
Level 1 Energy
• They eventually implode and may go into bankruptcy. At this level
organizations tend to basic needs only like safety and survival. Some
tumble faster than others but destruction is inevitable.

• Every option is a lose-lose situation
• Why even bother?
• No one appreciates what I do around here

• Is it Friday yet?

 Blame others

 Tend to micromanage and are
very controlling in “how they
want things done”
 Can be condescending and
bossy
 Take credit for other’s work
 Don’t get buy-in from others
Characteristics of Organizations With Level 2
energy
• Shortsighted
• Exhibit fight-or-flight tendencies
• Because they’re so concerned about finances, they take advantage of
workers and consumers, reaping as much financial gain as they can –
sometimes at any cost.
• Ask staff to work longer hours and take on much more work than they
can handle. They don’t share reasons for their actions or get buy-in
staff.
• Company philosophy: It’s our way or the highway.
• Level 2 thinking is all about winning and losing. In many companies, this
kind of thinking leads to policies that are black and white that turn
people away.

• Core thought = Responsibility

People are generally good; they just don’t know better

Relief Peace of Mind
Type anabolic
Actions/Results associated with Level 3:
Cooperation
• Focus is on me
• Rationalization
• Justification
• Toleration
• Use of coping mechanisms
• Release

 I really should do this; it’s the right thing to do
 How can I make this work to my advantage?
 He didn’t really mean it; he was just stressed
 Let’s see if we can figure out a way to make this work
 I’m sure this will all work out fine
Characteristics of Leaders experiencing Level 3 energy
• Motivate themselves and others by finding ways to cope, release, forgive,
and explain away resentments, stress, disappointments
• Respond, don’t react
• Avoid conflict (to keep peace)
• Cooperate
• Make excuses (to rationalize)
• Judge others (but less so than in Level 2)
• Blame others (but less so than in Level 2)
• Respond with logic, not emotions
• Don’t allow circumstances or others to get in the way of what they want
• Can avoid/block/release negativity of others
• Able to engage others with hopes and promises
• Can be manipulative
• Good teammates
• Take responsibility for getting things done
Characteristics of Organizations experiencing
Level 3 energy
• Level 3 organizations attempt to utilize, instead of “use” their
personnel. They always look for ways to incorporate staff talents with
company needs. These organizations are more visible in the
marketplace because they reach out to create awareness of who they
are and what they do. The internal policies of these enterprises
consider the needs of the employee as well as they company. There’s a
low level of communication between leaders and staff, but is
understood that leaders are available should the need arise.

• Nurturing (of people, projects, and the company)
• Take little personally
• Care for others and help them do their jobs the best they can

Level 4 energy
• Need to compete with other businesses lessens – rather, they
know they have unique offerings
• Focus on how their services/products truly help and serve their
audience
• Customer-centric and people or employee-centric are core
elements of the organization’s values – and are backed up by their
actions, policies, and words

  • 3. Take a look at your results • They are broken into two categories: • 1. Your Energetic Profile 2. Your Energetic Stress Reaction The highest two numbers indicate your preferred method of thinking in each category.
  • 4. Actions/Results associated with Level 1 • Lethargy • Focus on self • Lack of action • Low self-esteem • Lack confidence • Don’t express feelings/opinions • Avoid confrontation • Won’t move decisions forward • Take things personally • Focus on problems • Lack productivity
  • 5. Characteristics of Organizations with this Level 1 Energy • They eventually implode and may go into bankruptcy. At this level organizations tend to basic needs only like safety and survival. Some tumble faster than others but destruction is inevitable.

Observing Level 1 in Others – often heard phrases • I can’t do this • Every option is a lose-lose situation • Why even bother? • No one appreciates what I do around here • I’m so worried about • Is it Friday yet? Characteristics of Leaders experiencing Level 1 energy  Don’t express feelings/opinions  Avoid confrontation  Won’t move decisions forward  Take things personally  High levels of avoidance and inaction  At best, the bare minimum of work/performance is undertaken

  • 9. Observing Level 2 in Others – often heard phrases • If I want something done right, I have to do it myself. • Just do it my way, ok? I don’t have time to explain why • My team/family member is incompetent • No one meets my expectations • My actions are justified  It’s not my fault: it’s yours  Making my numbers is all that matters to me  It’s all about willing  I have to stay on top of them or they’ll slack off
  • 10. • Don’t trust others • Can appear confident to a fault – come across as argumentative, defensive, controlling • How low emotional intelligence • Think their way is the “right” way • Ignore others’ responses/perspectives • Focus on problems Characteristics of Leaders experiencing Level 2 energy  Blame others  Highly judgmental  Tend to micromanage and are very controlling in “how they want things done”  Can be condescending and bossy  Take credit for other’s work  Don’t get buy-in from others

Characteristics of Organizations With Level 2 energy • Shortsighted • Exhibit fight-or-flight tendencies • Because they’re so concerned about finances, they take advantage of workers and consumers, reaping as much financial gain as they can – sometimes at any cost. • Ask staff to work longer hours and take on much more work than they can handle. They don’t share reasons for their actions or get buy-in staff. • Company philosophy: It’s our way or the highway. • Level 2 thinking is all about winning and losing. In many companies, this kind of thinking leads to policies that are black and white that turn people away.

Characteristics of Leaders experiencing Level 3 energy • Motivate themselves and others by finding ways to cope, release, forgive, and explain away resentments, stress, disappointments • Respond, don’t react • Avoid conflict (to keep peace) • Cooperate • Make excuses (to rationalize) • Judge others (but less so than in Level 2) • Blame others (but less so than in Level 2) • Respond with logic, not emotions • Don’t allow circumstances or others to get in the way of what they want • Can avoid/block/release negativity of others • Able to engage others with hopes and promises • Can be manipulative • Good teammates • Take responsibility for getting things done
  • 17. Characteristics of Organizations experiencing Level 3 energy • Level 3 organizations attempt to utilize, instead of “use” their personnel. They always look for ways to incorporate staff talents with company needs. These organizations are more visible in the marketplace because they reach out to create awareness of who they are and what they do. The internal policies of these enterprises consider the needs of the employee as well as they company. There’s a low level of communication between leaders and staff, but is understood that leaders are available should the need arise.
