2. Methane Clatherate commonly known as Sea
Clatherate, is unharnesed resource of
Chhattisgarh.
Our motive behind making this project is to
highlight the state Chhattisgarh and realise the
beauty of our state. In Balrampur district
Tatpani is situated, which has hot water spring.
The hot water from this spring flows through
insulated pipes under gravity to Bay of Bengal.
There are methane crystals present in sea bed
of Bay of Bengal. The hotwater melts the
methane crystals present there. This melting
results in evolution of methane gas. This gas is
separated from water by scrubber and is
compressed by compressor. The compressed gas
undergoes bottling.
3. WHAT IS SEA CLATHERATE?
SEA CLATHERATE ALSO CALLED

ICE IS A SOLID CLATHERATE
COMPOUND FOUND UNDER
SEDIMENTS ON OCEAN FLOORS.
IT HAS BEEN FORMED BY TRAPPING
OF METHANE {CH4} MOLECULE IN ICE
CRYSTALS.
ITS IS THE BIGGEST SOURCE OF
NATURAL GAS.
4. ESTIMATED AMOUNT-
ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF SEA CLATHERATE IS TWICE OF TOTALAMOUNT OF CARBON
FOUND IN ALL KNOWN FOSSIL FUELS.
IT IS ABOUT 6.4 TRILLION TONS {6.4’10^12 TONS}
THIS AMOUNT IS LARGE ENOUGH TO FULL FILL OUR FUEL REQUIREMENT FOR MILLION
OF YEARS.
WHAT LEAD TO ITS FORMATION?
METHANE CLATHERATE IS BELIEVED TO FORM BY MIGRATION OF METHANE GAS FROM
DEPTH ALONG GEOLOGICAL FAULTS FOLLOWED BY ITS STALLIZATION IN COLD WATER.
AVERAGE COMPOSITION-
IN GENERAL, 100G OF METHANE ICE CONTAINS ABOUT 16G OF METHANE TRAPPED
INSIDE THE CRYSTAL.
STABILITY-
SEA CLATHERATES ARE STABLE AT LOW TEMPERATURE AND HIGH PRESSURE.

THE NATURAL GAS FROM SEA CLATHERATES OF BAY OF BENGAL AT VERY LOW COST
AND WITHOUT ANY POLLUTION.

7. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE?
THE HOT WATER OF TATAPANI CAN BE SHIFTED TO BAY OF BENGAL
UNDER GRAVITY WITHOUT USING ANY ENERGY LAYING INSULATED PIPE
LINES IN RIVER MAND AND MAHANADI.
THE TOTAL LENGTH OF PIPELINE WILL BE LESS THAN 500km
THIS HOT WATER CAN BE USED TO MELT METHANE CLATHERATES OF SEA
BED TO RELEASE NATURAL GAS. THE GAS THUS, RELEASED CAN BE
SCREENED, COMPRESSED AND FILLED IN GAS CYLINDERS FOR BEING
USED AS FUEL.
