This time there is no smashed glass/blood/dead flowers. Alex picks up some plates of food from
the countertop and walks into the kitchen.

Shot: Close up of tap dripping with the focus on the tap, changing the focus of Alex as she picks

romantic dinner date. She is also dressed up in a black dress and heels.

the background. She answers it and then angrily slams it down, picking the plates up from the
table and slamming them on the kitchen counter.

12. Mise en Scene: Zoom into polaroid detective is looking at: close up of dead flowers in a vase on
a kitchen surface. Flowers reverse in a time lapse to being healthy.

is less saturated when flowers are wilted and normal when they are alive.

13. Mise en Scene: Normal kitchen that is shown at the beginning, except there is no smashed glass, blood and the vase is
empty of flowers. Alex is washing plates in the sink. Stuart walks into the room holding flowers, giving them to Alex.
When she hears him she takes her ring off and hides it in her pocket, before taking the flowers gratefully. He implies he
has to go and leaves. Alex then runs to the dining room and hides the ring in a box which she takes out of a secret
cupboard.
Lighting: high-key lighting – natural sunlight through kitchen window.

Shot: Zoom out and pan to Alex, then slow pan over Stuart walking in whilst slowly zooming out, capturing the now
empty vase. Tracking shot of Stuart as he gives Alex the flowers. Tracking medium shot of Alex as she puts them down and
continues washing up, then tracking long shot of her as she goes to the dining room and puts the ring in the box. Close up
of the box.

14. Mise en Scene: Detectives office - desk covered in photos and bags of evidence and pinboard
covered in polaroids. Detective picks up a box that is on the desk and tries to open it but it’s
locked. He puts it down and finds a piece of evidnce – a shard of glass in a labelled evidence
bag. It has a polaroid next to it of a smashed glass on a kitchen floor.
Lighting: low-key lighting from filler lamp above detective’s desk.
Sound: Diegetic sound of detectives movements. Non-diegetic sound of piano score, ducked

Shot: Close up of box (graphic match from previous shot) and tracking it as detective picks it

15. Mise en Scene: Alex and Stuart’s kitchen. There is a smashed glass on the floor and blood on
the cabinet next to it. Alex and Stuart are standing by the sink arguing.

16. Mise en Scene: Alex and Stuart’s kitchen. They are arguing and she smashes a glass on the
countertop by accident whilst gesturing.
