  2. 2. O CULTURĂ A DATELOR - DATA LITERACY!!! Uneori tot ceea ce ai nevoie este să faci doar .trei pași
  3. 3. Just as literacy refers to “the ability to read for knowledge, write coherently and think critically about printed material” data-literacy is the ability to consume for knowledge, produce coherently and think critically about data. Data literacy includes statistical literacy but also understanding how to work with large data sets, how they were produced, how to connect various data sets and how to interpret them.

  7. 7. CORE SKILLS FOR DATA MANAGEMENT (DIGITAL CURATION CENTRE - 2008)
  8. 8. We suggest that three of the most relevant ways in which the library community might influence developments are: The training and supply of data librarians
  9. 9. RESEARCH DATA ALLIANCE "Data librarians are professional library staff engaged in managing research data, using research data as a resource, or supporting researchers in these activities".
  10. 10. RE-SKILLING FOR RESEARCH - 2012 Research Libraries UK is a long‐established consortium of the top research-led institutions in the UK and Ireland. The study consisted of four work packages of information gathering and analysis.
  11. 11. Ability to advise on preserving research outputs Knowledge to advise on data management and curation, including ingest, discovery, access, dissemination, preservation, and portability Knowledge to support researchers in complying with the various mandates of funders, including open access requirements Knowledge to advise on potential data manipulation tools used in the discipline/subject Knowledge to advise on data mining Knowledge to advocate, and advise on, the use of metadata Ability to advise on the preservation of project records Knowledge of sources of research funding Skills to develop metadata schema, and advise on discipline/subject standards and practices, for individual research projects

  13. 13. ANOTHER LEAD TO THE "ELUSIVE DATA LIBRARIAN" Sometimes the same traits are to be found in the sphere of digital humanities
  14. 14. I took a deep dive into IASSIST job database and my own collection of job adds over the years. The only job descriptions I was interested in was strictly data librarian. There are countles others that lend traits to the same profile... JOBS (check me out @ http://iassistdata.org/resources/jobs/all)
  15. 15. Ohhh, the White Rabit's Hole goes deep! Time is of the essence.
  16. 16. SEVEN DIRECTION FOR THE SKILLS AND ABILITIES - FROM ADDS STRUCTURE in what is collaborating with others (1) what she/he organizes (2) in what is involved (3) for what is responsible of and what she/he elaborates (4) to what she/he contributes to (5) fuzzy (6) qualifications and specific requirements (7)
  17. 17. 1. IS COLLABORATING
  18. 18. 1. IS COLLABORATING
  19. 19. develop curation, management and support services for the curricular and research uses of data and so ware, and track and implement new developments in these areas as appropriate. The Data Services Librarian will collaborate with a librarian team in the delivery of information literacy instruction and an evolving reference service model, participate in a liaison role with teaching faculty, and additionally, contribute to development of instructional services for the college’s online and hybrid programs
